How do you like to decorate for Christmas??

Whether it be Retro Christmas, Antique Christmas, Vintage or Modern....whether you're into Angels or Reindeers, Santas or Nativity Scenes.....lights, garland, ornaments or snow.....decorating always gets you in the
mood for that magical time of year where everyone is basically transported back to their childhood, to the sights and smells of dad putting up the lights and ornaments outside, mom baking all the goodies in the kitchen and you and your siblings arguing over where to put the decorations on the tree and of course, being the youngest, you always know what's best!! :)

If You're Looking to Getaway

for a little Pre-Christmas rest and relaxation

NOVEMBER 8 2009 - JANUARY 5 2010 is the Niagara Falls

Festival of Lights

DON'T MISS IT!!!!!

The Preparation Work

before you can do anything about the decorations

Ya gotta have the Christmas music going while you decorate! It's mandatory ;) Or you could always pop in a Christmas movie for the same effect.

The Christmas Lights

Traditional Lights, Solar Lights, Icicle Lights and more

So you got the Christmas music playing, the cookies and squares are baking or cooling, the kids are watching Charlie Brown Christmas, the other half is sampling the eggnog and now you have to decide where to start with the decorations. So let's first try to decide what type of light you want. Do you want the Icicles or snowflakes that hang down or the traditional round colored bulbs for your tree. Do you want the clear white lights or colored ones? Do you want the multi colored lights or just one color? Do you want just the bulbs or would you sooner have shapes like stars, icicles, snowflakes or cartoon characters? Do you want strings, tubes or garlands? There's a lot of choices when it comes to picking out your lights but first off you have to decide where they're going first. Are they going on the tree and if they're going around the tree do you want just the solid color strings or would tubes be easier? Or will you start by going around the outside of the house? Maybe around the windows? Do you want to use the strings, garlands or the nets to cover the entire window? Stringing them from your ceiling or putting them around the trees or bushes outside? Maybe from the ceiling would be the best place for the Icicles or snowflakes that hang and I know the nets work great drapped over the bushes. So what are ya doing? Sitting here reading this isn't getting those decorations up.

And then you have the novelty lights. If you want to go with a theme there's animals such as bears, moose, horse and different birds. If you're a fishing fanatic there's tons of different lures, anchors and fish. There's lanterns, campers and cowboots among others. There's also ball clusters and spheres.

Illuminating the Outdoors for Santa

so Santa can follow the path and not fall in the flowerbeds

And he won't be waking up the kids, who seem to be having "visions of sugar plums dancing in their heads", who about an hour ago claimed they weren't tired. ;) For the outdoors you have choices of stationary wall decorations, animated rooftop or yard displays, stars, santas, topiaries and more.

And the Accessories

like timers, spotlights and more

Shop Christmas Lights.com TodaySo you're out late at night and you won't be home before the sun goes down why not use the timer to make sure the lights go on and off at certain times plus it's a definite energy saver in case you forget to turn the lights off before you go to bed. Or there may be certain areas of the yard you want to illuminate such as the nativity scene in the front yard or the Santa on the roof going down the chimney or the little elves that are dropping package down the chimney for Santa, you can even put the spotlights on a timer as well or if you're not happy with that, try the Solar Lights. Either way you can always plan it all out with the Christmas Lights Planner before hand. Map out the entire house and decide where you should put the lights before you waste all your time putting them here and there and then changing it all around.

emember the movie Christmas Story, the boy who really wanted the bb gun? Remember the tacky lamp that his father got and had to display in his front window? Wellllll, YOU can display it on your tree now too!!! Or the nutcracker.......is it your first Christmas together? Or maybe it's your child's first christmas and you want to commemorate these special times with a Christmas ornament.
