Decorating With Curtains and Blinds

People have been decorating with curtains and blinds for generations.

Needed for privacy and home decor they come in many different styles and designs.

Some people like, light pretty lace curtains which are soft and feminine, others bright and loud. There are many styles to suit you home and of course your income as they can be, depending on the fabric and how much is used, quite expensive.

I love wooden blinds that can give you light when needed, when pulled right up or slates adjusted, giving you great privacy and protection from the elements and look stunning with those heavier decorative curtains falling to the side.

There are half curtains, curtains that only fall to the windowsill, full length curtains on tracks or on wooden or metal rings, the choice is yours.

To choose the fabric of your curtains take a good look at the space in your room.Is it a small room that needs light or large? Do you want to go for a lighter look or a heavier curtain?

You could choice the colour from a painting, rug or throw cushion you have ,so when the curtains are up they blend in with all the other decorative elements in the room.

Get yourself down to a good haberdashery store and have a look around before you buy. If you are having your curtains made, ask for a snippet or two of fabric that you like, take them home and put them up on the wall near the window to see if any have potential to become your new curtains.

Buying the right curtains for your home is a big and sometimes expensive decision, so take you time, do some research and look in as many home decor magazines that you can until find the look you want to get it right.

Blinds come in many shapes,colors and styles, their one main aim to give privacy and screening to your windows.

Venetian blinds have been around for a while now and today they are made in a modern slim style with clean lines that look smart and sophisticated on you windows. Great for kitchens and bathrooms if you like this look.

Wooden blinds, my favorites, have a quite heavier look but if you are like me and go for that look of wood these are the ones for your.They slide up and down with ease and have adjustable slates like venetian blinds to filter light.They are good for blocking out the elements, noise and neighbors.

Holland blinds are a simple yet good looking practical blind that moves easily up and down and are quite inexpensive, looking good on all windows, especially bedrooms and lounge rooms.

Take a good look at your windows to see what blinds would suit your windows .Keep in mind your color scheme that you are working with and whether they will suit the curtains you have chosen or would like them as they are, standing on their own.

So many combinations and possibilities to choose from and some hard decisions to make.
