The web is a great source of information but sometimes requires some work to dig out all the information you want on a particular topic based on what the content creator called their project or site. Scouring through a number of listings, I found some neat patterns and projects for making your own decorative bolster pillows. There's even one no-sew project which would be a neat project for budding crafters.

How to Make a Bolster Pillow

Directions for a simple bolster pillow with corded edges. Instructions include pictures for each step. Clicking on the pictures will give you a close up, making it easier to follow along.

Decorative Bolster With Tied Ends

Step by step instructions for a decorative bolster pillow with tied ends. This pattern is slightly easier than making a complete bolster cover for a foam core as the foam is simply tied secured by the tied ends. There are three pages to these instructions, although it was hard to find the button to get to the next page (it's at the bottom and says "keep on wandering this way". Printer-friendly version is also available.

Crisp, clean bolster pillow with two coordinating fabrics and tassels used to gather the end. A great project if you want a decorative bolster pillow to be the highlight amongst some single-colored bed pillows.

Very clear instructions for a bolster pillow made out of kitchen towels. While I didn't particular care for the pattern used in the example, I think there are some beautiful kitchen towels available that could be used for this project and would make for some great bolster pillows.
