Introducing Decyfer Down
Decyfer Down was originally formed in 1999 as Allysonhymn (All-eyes-on-Him) by guitarist Brandon Mills and drummer Josh Oliver. Originally an acoustic outfit, the group eventually switched to a more rock-oriented sound. Josh Oliver's brother Caleb later joined the band as a bass player, followed in 2002 by guitarist Chris Clonts. After Clonts joined, the group decided to change names. "I kid you not...I opened the dictionary and there's the word decipher," Clonts says. "We have three pages of names and I open the dictionary and find this word." Decipher means "to interpret", which fit perfectly with the band's goal to interpret truth with God's word. A record deal with SRE Recordings led to the band's debut album, End of Grey, which was released on June 6, 2006.

- Chris Clonts
Clonts, the son of a minister, was born on October 6, 1979, in Jacksonville, Alabama. He spent much of his childhood moving from place to place and has lived in a variety of U.S. states, including Kentucky, Virginia, and North Carolina. He received his first guitar as a gift from his parents at the age of 12. After graduating from Cresset Christian Academy in Durham, North Carolina, Chris relocated with his family to Morehead City, North Carolina, where he met his bandmates: Josh, Caleb, and Brandon. Chris was married on April 21, 2007. His wife's name is - Josh Oliver
Josh Oliver, also the son of a minister, was born in 1980. He was the first son of five children. His siblings include three sisters, Katherin, Hannah, and Lydia, and one brother, Caleb, who is also a member of the band. Josh began drumming in eighth grade and continued playing through high school, where he met Brandon Mills. Josh is engaged to be married. - Brandon Mills
Mills was born in Morehead City, North Carolina on September 1, 1977. He began playing instruments at a young age and was a member of several bands through high school. Brandon had recently turned away from a life of drugs and parties when Decfyer Down was formed. Brandon is currently married with two children. His wife's name is Chalice. - Caleb Oliver
Caleb Oliver, the frontman of Decyfer Down, was born in Norfolk, Virginia on November 29th, as the middle child of five. He began his singing career at age two. He played in a few different bands with his brother Josh before meeting Brandon Mills in 1999. Caleb is also engaged.
