Deep Fryer Cooking is so Very Tasty
Frying has long been a favorite way of cooking and at its simplest level it just means that the meal has been prepared by cooking it in hot oil or fat meant for cooking. One of the many reasons why fried foods always seem to be popular is because of the way the food is "seared." This fast method of cooking adds a unique crispness and a special texture that cannot be achieved with other cooking methods. There are several ways to fry up a batch of food, such as a quick stir fry in a pan to a deep fry in special deep fat fryers.Depending on the type of food being cooked, the fat will penetrate fried foods to varying degrees and this in turn contributes to the richness and distinctive flavoring. Different frying techniques require differing amounts of fat for cooking, as well as having an effect on the cooking time. The type of cooking vessel used also makes a difference in the frying technique, and some of the most common ways of frying foods are: sautéing, pan frying, stir frying, skillet frying and deep frying.

Deep Fryer Food - Naughty But Nice
Deep frying of various foods involves completely immersing the food in sizzling hot deep frying oil. In most instances, the oil for deep frying is normally "topped off" in the course of a day of heavy duty cooking, such as in a restaurant environment, and it is used over and over before being disposed of and replaced.Preparing foods in a deep fat fryer is typically a much more involved process than the other methods of frying, such as sautéing or stir frying, partially because of the special equipment that is required. This method of food preparation might also require specialized oils in order to enjoy optimal results.
These days, cooking foods through deep frying is quite popular and is the foundation of a large, thriving and expanding industry that spans the globe. There is no question about the appeal all kinds of fried foods have with a lot of consumers. The process of cooking with deep fat fryers is quick, and it lends itself to mass production, and these fried foods emerge from the manufacturing process sterile and dry. The final products can then be easily packaged for distribution and they have a relatively long expected shelf life. Potato crisps, tortilla chips, French fries, doughnuts, nuts, and instant noodles are just a few examples of such products.
While these benefits are great for the fried food manufacturers, distributors and retailers, and even for the consumers who don't need to worry about shelf life, there are many critics of these foods that emerge from deep fat fryers. Nutritionists are especially critical of these foods because have very little nutritional value, are high in fat and usually laden with salt as well.

Electric Deep Fryer Cooks Up Your All Time Favorite Foods
An electric deep fryer is the perfect appliance for cooking up some of the all-time favorite foods that Americans just love and cannot seem to get along without. Some examples of these deep fried delicacies are things such as French fries, fried chicken, or any other food that needs to be submerged in hot oil for deep frying in order to be cooked with that special fried flavor that people love so much. There are a number of different types, styles and sizes of electric deep fryer models that are available on the market. But, regardless of the specific model that is chosen, such as a professional deep fryer, a model for home kitchens, or even a mini deep fryer, there are some components that are common to all models.
Even the most basic models of electric deep fryer units will feature a deep oil reservoir for where the oil for deep frying is heated up and stored when not being used. Deep fat fryers are also equipped with a frying basket that is made of a metal mesh. The basket allows the cook to easily and safely ease the food into the heated oil and makes for easy removal and draining as well.
Some electrical deep fryer units also come with a removable grill which can also be immersed into the oil vat for cooking. There are also models which come with lids, so that the food can be covered while cooking, helping the food to cook more quickly and also helping to contain the spattering of the hot oil.

Choosing the Best Deep Fryer for your Home
When choosing an electric deep fryer, you should check out the efficiency of the fryer by looking into the type of material the various models are made of and comparing the oil capacity of the different units. For preparing items that cook fast, like chips and fries, you should choose aluminum electric fryers because they are able to heat up and cool down more quickly, which can help to prevent over cooking. A copper or stainless steel deep fryer is a better choice if you plan to primarily cook larger meats and cuts because they retain the heat much better than aluminum.
The size of the electric deep fryer you choose will depend on the quantity of foods you will be cooking on a regular basis. If you cook for many people, then the deep fryer should be equipped with a large fry pot that can handle large amounts of food. But, if you will primarily be using it to prepare meals for just one or two people, it is best to buy a mini deep fryer.

How to Season and Flavour a Turkey before Deep Frying
Most folks assume that if you dunk a turkey into a vat of deep fryer oil in turkey fryers that the result will be a greasy meal that is not very appetizing. However, the exact opposite is true. Because the turkey is almost immediately sealed by the hot oil, all of the juices and flavor is trapped inside and the result is meat that is moist and flavorful throughout. At the same time, a turkey fryer makes the skin of the turkey incredibly crisp and delicious and for some folks, that is their new favorite part of the holiday feast.
The experts at deep-frying whole turkeys say that one of their secret tricks to keeping the bird be so juicy and full of flavor is to inject the turkey with various types of sauces, seasonings, and flavorings before dropping the bird into the sizzling vat of deep fryer oil.
Some examples of the types of seasonings and flavor additions that many use to infuse their deep fried turkeys before putting them into a turkey fryer are things such as: a bottle of liquid garlic juice; a bottle of "Cajun Sunshine" sauce, or a bottle of Tiger sauce. According to various cooks who have experimented with injecting such things, it is ultimately up to the cook and their tastes and just about anything can be added to increase the flavor component of the turkey.
Whatever type of additional seasonings are injected into the turkey before it is submerged in to the depths of a turkey fryer, the main benefit is that the seasonings will be sealed into the turkey almost instantly and will not cook off, but will simply permeate deeper into the bird as it goes through the deep frying process.

How to Clean a Deep Fryer
In addition to the pure messiness of having a lot of grease spattered around the kitchen, and particularly around the deep fryer, there is another concern. With home models of deep fat fryers you must also deal with the disposal of the deep frying oil before you can add some new grease to the unit to cook up your next meal.
The first thing you should be aware of when it comes to keeping deep fryers clean is that you do not have to change the oil for deep frying every time that you use the unit. This does help avoid the messiness that is part of the oil removal and disposal process. However, if you have used the grease to cook foods that have very strong flavors or smells, then it is recommended that you do change the deep frying oil. This will assure that your current good choices are not going to be ruined by flavors from previous meals or end up with that rancid "seasoning" that no one enjoys.
When it is the right time to change the deep frying oil so you can enjoy a nice, clean deep fryer, you will want to heat up the unit first. Then let the oil cool off so that it is still warm and liquefied, so that it is easy to pour. You should drain the old oil by carefully pouting it into an old coffee can, or similar type of receptacle.
Next, you can use a spatula to thoroughly scrape the sides of the fryer to remove any pieces of food and any oil that is still clinging to the inside of the unit. When you have gotten as much oil as possible out with the spatula, then use a paper towel to wipe up any additional grease that remains. Once the interior of the fryer is cleaned out and the oil is in the receptacle, then you should seal the can with tape.
Once the oil is out of the way, you can fill the fryer up with warm water, and add a small amount of dishwashing liquid that is formulated to cut through grease. Plug the electric deep fryer unit back in and let it heat up fully until the water comes to a boil and allow it to remain boiling for about 10 minutes. This process will remove any remaining grease from the inside of the fryer. After allowing the water to boil for 10 minutes, unplug the unit and leave it to cool for a few minutes before pouring the water out.
After pouring out the water, run warm water around the inside of the deep fryer to make sure that there is not any dishwashing detergent or grease left inside. It is also a good idea to take a bit of baking soda, mixed with warm water to cleanse the exterior of the unit. This combination is very effective at cutting the grease that might have built up on the outside and will leave it sparkling clean.
