Deep Creek Lake

Deep Creek Lake is the mountain getaway that you have always dreamed of. Ideally located about half way between Pittsburgh, PA and the Baltimore-Washington DC Metro area, Deep Creek Lake offers year-round fun and recreation. It is easily accessible and is located just south of I-68.

Enjoy water skiing, jet skiing or sailing on Maryland's largest man-made lake. If you enjoy fishing, Deep Creek lake boasts of some of the finest walleye, bass, and trout fishing in the state.

Deep Creek Lake is located in the mountains of Western Maryland where the winters can turn the 3000 foot peaks into a skier's paradise. Enjoy downhill skiing at the Wisp Resort or cross-country skiing in some of the state's most beautiful parks.

Year round camping is available in several state parks including Deep Creek Lake State Park, New Germany State park and my favorite Swallow Falls State Park. The hiking and mountain biking through these parks in unequaled in the region.

Fall at Deep Creek Lake shows nature's beauty as the leaves of the maple and oak trees turn the mountains into a kaleidoscope of color. Fall also brings many wonderful festivals including Autumn Glory Festival which hosts the Maryland State  Banjo and Fiddle Championship, arts and crafts and much more.

Garrett County also boasts of some of the best hunting in the region. The state of Maryland has over 80,000 acres of public hunting lands. Deer hunting, turkey hunting and small game hunting have long been popular in the area and the state has recently allowed for a limited number of Black Bears to be taken in Garrett County.

The area around Deep Creek Lake is host to Cranesville Sub-Arctic Swamp which is home to many species of plants and animals that are normally found much further north. It is definately a place that the outdoor enthusiast should visit.
