Defensive Driving and Its Uses
Not all the five fingers of the hand are same; just like that not all the drivers driving on the road are same. Everybody have their own style of driving. Some might have extraordinary driving skills and some might have ordinary driving skills. It is not all about being extraordinary drivers it is being good drivers that matters. A good driver is one who thinks about his driving as well as the driving of the other drivers on the road. Thinking about our driving is so tough and it is even more tougher to think and anticipate about other drivers driving on the road. To make this job easier the State Motor Vehicles Division has come up with some defensive driving courses. These courses teach the driver the easiest techniques which they can practice to avoid any accidents which may cause serious injury or death. The Defensive driving course enhances the driver skills in anticipation, alertness and focusing on driving.
As said earlier each driver have their own style of driving not all are correct and not all are wrong. Some may ride fast yet have complete control of the car and some may drive very slowly yet meet with a collision. The aim of defensive driving course is to make the driver understand the optimum way of driving the car without involving in any accidents or collisions. The course teaches the people on how to develop their concentration level with regard to the road conditions, weather conditions and surrounding drivers. When a driver starts focusing on all these three conditions while driving he or she becomes a perfect driver. A normal driver is one who concentrates on one or two of these three but a good driver would concentrate and focus on all the three.
Defensive driving course advises the drivers to inspect their car before driving for any non functioning parts of the car before starting to drive. Check for the lights, indicators, side lamps, tires for any under inflation. Under inflated tires increase the amount of time required for braking thus causes a potential danger of crashing into the vehicle driving in front.
Always drive at the optimum speed, the speed limit posted in the area is calculated based on the driving conditions and climatic conditions and traffic conditions of that area. Always use two hands for driving. Using one hand to drive to drive would make your reflexes to be slow and thus increasing the danger of an potential accident. Always beware of blind spots on the road so accelerate and decelerate as needed. Always drive with the flow of the traffic. Many know that driving too fast can cause an accident but driving too slow can also create the chances of an accident. So always be at pace of the flowing traffic so braking and acceleration can be uniform with the other vehicles on the road. Scan all your mirrors before making any changes to lanes or turning. Scan the surrounding to have an escape route always.
