Clean Internet History

You may not be aware but your computer tracks everything you do. Simply by using your keyboard or other input devices, your computer maintains a log that is difficult to erase. Anybody with the appropriate knowledge can see what you have been doing, watching, listening to.

That is very powerful - knowing EVERYTHING you do on the internet, what you type in and how it reflects on YOU

For example, your computer records:

- every website you have EVER visited

- every video you have viewed or downloaded

- all of your personal login data

-all of you password data

- your internet search activity

- files you have opened

EVERYTHING

Your computer does this to make life easy for you - shortcuts can help the browsing and viewing experience. But this information can be readily retrieved by others.

Even if you are clever and try to clean the browsing history, cache, temporary files and cookies this information can still be found.

Even formatting your hard disk is no protection.

Think about this:

- do you want you boss or workmates to see everything you have been up to on the computer? (you could land yourself in trouble and lose your status, your job and your income)

- would you like your spouse or partner to be aware of your activities past and present? (this could damage your relationship and get you into trouble with authorities)

- what would your children say, or your friends children, if they could see everything that was on your computer and anything you have previously done? (children often know much more about accessing technology than adults - is it worth the risk?)

- how would you feel is a law enforcement officer or other authority had a good look at everything you have been doing? (some things are simply illegal - even if you plead innocence this will not defend you in a court of law)

I could look at your computer today and immediately start to see every web page you have looked at, every video you have watched, every image you have accessed and every password you have entered. I could see what files you have downloaded and which ones you have opened.

Amazing eh?

Perhaps you might think that only criminals should worry about erasing data? No. When you think about it, there are plenty of reasons that you might wish to clear your personal information:

- old communications to and from an old flame

- personal documents that have value in the wrong hands

- things you don't want workmates to get hold of

- website that you have accidentally stumbled upon

- websites that your children or other people have accessed on your computer

- personal logins

- personal passwords

- sensitive data such as bank account details, credit card details etc

- much, much more

Some of you activity cannot be erased manually. Accept it. Only special elimination software can do this. And many of the free software programs have faults that you don't want.

Ask yourself:

- can I rely on the software I am using?

- will the software do a thorough job in erasing material?

- will the company provide lifetime support?

- will the company provide lifetime upgrades?

- is the software proven to erase everything (even things that would defeat military or law enforcement scrutiny)?

There is perhaps only one internet eraser that is proven to do this job well and permanently.

Think about what your computer stores:

Browser History

Every website you have visited is stored in the browser history area. I could immediately see what you have been doing. You need to be sure that your history is unrecoverable.

Search history

Everything you search on the internet is stored in your computer data. You need to be sure that your searches don't compromise you if someone else comes sneaking onto your machine.

Toolbar search history

Some people add toolbars to their browser - these provide a great experience but can also make you more vulnerable to people that are spying on you.

Autocomplete History

AutoComplete stores things you have typed so that it can be easily inputted in the future. It can also be easily compromised by sneaky people. Your identity and personal data can also be stolen by malware that attacks your computer and reads your autocomplete data. This includes logins and passwords.

Address bar

Your address bar can also remember sites you have visited and accessed. If it can do it then others can find it.

Temporary Internet Files (Cache)

The cache can store the contents of any session on the computer - files, documents, images, videos etc.Anyone that wants to can see exactly what is stored in the cache and therefore sees what you have been accessing.

Cookies

Cookies are good because they help you access previously visited site more effectively. However, the information they store can tell others about your activities online. They can store your personal data and therefore can be a security threat.

Index.dat files in Internet Explorer

Internet explorer uses index.dat files. They cannot be deleted manually. It doesn't matter if you erase browse history, cache and cookies, the index.dat files will still store sensitive data.

If you are serious about protecting your personal data and your privacy then you should consider getting a program that will delete your internet history and other accessed files. Free programs simply will not protect you. Consider the purchase of an evidence eliminator to fully protect your private data, your employment, your relations hips, your income and, ultimately, your freedom.
