Oh, the smell of fresh baked bread!
  • Rewards4life Nov 6, 2011 @ 12:26 pm | delete
I have made my own bread for years and love finding new recipes to try. Lately I have favored my bread machine, it's not as rewarding as making proper bread but it's so much quicker. I know what recipe I will be trying this weekend. Nice lens.
  • WhiteOak50 Oct 16, 2011 @ 8:48 am | delete
I had to revisit this lens because with the season change I am in the mood to make some bread. I have a similar recipe but I may have to try this one. There is nothing like homemade bread with honey. Yum!
  • orange3 Oct 3, 2011 @ 3:15 pm | delete
This made me want to go bake bread - right now! I love the smell of it baking and eating it hot with butter and honey.
    Thanks for the recipe.

Your bread looks delicious! I've not had good luck with making bread, so I buy my bread.

I make all my bread for more than ten years now and found that decision for one of my best. Your recipe looks tempting, but maybe a little bit too complicated for me at the moment. Maybe in a year or two... Who knows? Thanks for sharing:)

  • MarkUpshaw Feb 22, 2011 @ 5:23 pm | delete
I love making my own bread, its the patience in letting the dough rise and the rest of my daily activities which is daunting.
  • poutine Feb 22, 2011 @ 3:07 pm | delete
I love the scent of freshly baked bread...but I am too lazy to do it myself.

  • nelabai Jan 7, 2011 @ 1:29 pm | delete
Thank you for this recipe, i must be amazing to make bread with your own hands. I guess it tastes two times better because of that.
  • darciefrench Jan 6, 2011 @ 11:59 pm | delete
I'm adding this lovely bread recipe lens to my ecstasy of the ordinary lens- there's nothing like the joy of mom making homemade bread -:)
  • DaveStone13 Jan 5, 2011 @ 3:22 pm | delete
The most unforgettable thing about baking bread is the amazing smell of it permeating the whole house. I don't bake anymore, although I used to love it. Lensrolling to my recipe lenses. Thanks!
  • Chinajoy Jan 4, 2011 @ 7:44 pm | delete
This recipe sounds delicious. I will be giving it a try and let you know how it comes out. Let's see whose oven can I use? (ovens are hard to come by in China ;-)

Yummy! My only problem when I make home made bread is slicing it...I need to buy a bread slicer...I squish my loaves when cutting with a knife. Thanks for sharing and thanks for visiting my mom's butter tart recipe lens...we appreciate it!

I've tried making homemade bread, but it always comes out too heavy. I have a great recipe for Portuguese Sweet Bread that I remember my relatives making, but it never comes out right. Wonderful lens. Squid Angel blessed.
  • javrsmith Dec 18, 2010 @ 5:19 pm | delete
Returned to give this lens a blessing.

Awesome lens! Bread looks soooo goood!!
  • javrsmith Nov 8, 2010 @ 4:30 pm | delete
I've been looking for a good recipe. I have had some luck with whole wheat flour but I make the odd bagel loaf sometimes. Thanks.
  • poddys Oct 22, 2010 @ 12:50 am | delete
There is nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked bread, and for me it's perfect eaten while still warm with just butter on it. You don't need anything else. Makes me feel hungry...
  • Specialeetees Oct 20, 2010 @ 8:04 am | delete
This lens looks good enough to eat, and now I'm hungry! Will definitely be trying this recipe, adding lens to my favourites.
  • TimeHacker Oct 17, 2010 @ 3:55 am | delete
Looks great, maybe i'll try :)
  • steveffeo Oct 6, 2010 @ 8:26 pm | delete
I have never made bread, it is something I always wanted to try. I like your use of photos and that you sell the items you use. As for now it looks like I will be kneading by hand that fancy mixer kneader thingy is a bit pricy.
    Blessed by Squid angel
  • Stazjia Oct 3, 2010 @ 5:55 am | delete
I'm going to try this recipe because it's 100% whole grain but isn't heavy. I usually use a mixture of white and wholegrain flour to avoid a heavy textured loaf. Lovely looking page as well as a well-explained recipe - blessed by an Angel.
  • SofiaMann Sep 22, 2010 @ 7:42 pm | delete
My kids love the homemade bread. Thanks for the recipe.
  • nightbear Sep 20, 2010 @ 7:49 pm | delete

  • Wednesday_Elf Sep 3, 2010 @ 8:46 am | delete
I loved this lens the first time I read it. Besides being a BIG lover of homemade bread :), I thought you did a terrific job with your recipe descriptions and pictures, making it easy for any level cook (even relatively 'new' cooks) to 'follow along'. So, I have returned to give you "Blessings from a Squid Angel".
  • dustytoes May 13, 2010 @ 4:57 am | delete
I am usually disappointed with the way my bread comes out. I don't have a heavy duty mixer, but mixing my breads in the bread maker first, then baking in the oven usually works. Yours looks yummy!
  • partybuzz Apr 13, 2010 @ 6:49 pm | delete
Mmmm...this bread looks so good! I love homemade bread. Lensrolling to my Healthy Flax Bread lens. Thanks so much for your blessing. :)
  • CCGAL Feb 26, 2010 @ 12:39 am | delete
Looks yummy! I'll give it a try - I've always added some white flour to keep my whole grain bread from being too heavy, but I will try this recipe as is the first time. I suspect the use of honey & molasses makes a difference in the final crumb. Very lovely presentation here, visually pleasing.
  • OhMe Feb 6, 2010 @ 7:46 am | delete
Thank you for adding this delicious bread recipe to the Recipe Lenses Plexo on Ohme's recipes.

  • flowergardener Dec 28, 2009 @ 12:09 pm | delete
Love home made bread, and the smell it puts in a home! My mother & I, (and now my daughter in love) make home made buns, although I do venture out every once in awhile to make homemade sourdough bread. :)
  • Mickie_G Dec 27, 2009 @ 6:45 pm | delete
Do you think I can use my KitchenAid mixer with the bread hook? What about using a breadmaker? I have both. I have never had much luck with kneading so any mechanical help I can get would be welcomed!
  • Jewelsofawe Dec 27, 2009 @ 6:48 pm | delete
I think the kitchen aid mixer with the bread hook would work. I do not know how to use a breadmaker actually so I don't know if you could use one or not.
  • OhMe Dec 24, 2009 @ 3:53 pm | delete
Yummy. I could almost smell this delicious looking bread. Thank you for blessing and lensrolling my Broccoli Rice Sausage Casserole Recipe lens. They would go very well together so I am lensrolling this one to that one.

  • puzzlemaker Dec 1, 2009 @ 10:07 am | delete
I have a recipe I used regularly with white flour. When I tried it with 100% whole grain flour, it did not turn out very well. Your look great so I'm going to give your recipe a try.
  • skiesgreen Nov 30, 2009 @ 1:31 am | delete
Wonderful. I have made bread and used to make dinner buns when my family were young. Now I use a bread maker and enjoy home made bread much more than store bought. I can also control the amount of sale, vital as you age. 5* fave and lens rolled. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing
  • Pukeko Nov 27, 2009 @ 6:07 pm | delete

  • prosperity66 Nov 7, 2009 @ 4:52 am | delete
I've never made bread myself as we have great bakeries that deliver delicious bread but as the price for a 800 gr bread is almost reaching 2 euros, I think I'm gonna buy a bread machine and make my own bread. Save your recipe to my computer so that I can refer!
    Dom.
  • arncyn Nov 6, 2009 @ 2:08 am | delete
Oh my that looks so yummy! I agree that homemade bread is the best though I've never attempted to make one myself. Bookmarking this lens (:

Mmm - love homemade bread! Have to admit I use a bread making machine these days - just put all the ingredients in and wait 4 hours and like magic bread appears! But, I used to make it by hand a while ago. Maybe I should try your recipe!
  • Wednesday_Elf Nov 5, 2009 @ 1:21 pm | delete
