Mango Coconut Peach Tea Smoothie

One of my personal favorite tropical style smoothies!

When you're in the mood for something tropical and incredibly flavorful, this smoothie really hits the spot. Instead of using coconut milk, try using frozen coconut bars to give it a fresh coconut flavor.

Ingredients

-1/2 cup frozen mango chunks
-1/2 cup frozen peach chunks
-1 whole frozen coconut bar, taken off the stick and chopped into chunks
-1/2 frozen banana (optional)
-4 tbsp fruit juice or iced tea (a lighter juice or tea will let the mango and peach flavor shine through).

Directions:

1. Place the peach chunks and juice/tea into a blender and blend until just about smooth. Add the mango chunks, then the coconut and blend. Mix the items until a smooth consistency appears. If the fruit is overly frozen, use more tea to help speed up the process.
2. Serve the drinks immediately in a tall glass or martini glass!

Mango has a unique sweet and spicy flavor unlike any other fruit.

Carrot Smoothies

Surprisingly sweet, Vitamin packed smoothie!

Carrots are actually a very sweet vegetable that has a lot of hidden flavor that comes out in juice form. Try using carrots in different smoothie recipes that you might already use that involve mango, pineapple, coconut, and other similar fruits.

Ingredients:

-1/2 cup carrots, chopped and peeled
-1 pineapple ring (chopped)
-1 Tbsp honey
-1 cup crushed ice
-1 Teaspoon lemon juice
-1 teaspoon mint syrup (optional)

Directions:

1. Place all of the ingredients except for the ice into the blender and process for 2-3 minutes until the carrots are finely chopped and liquified.
2. Add the ice. Be sure the ice is already finely chopped (or smashed) to ensure a smooth drink. Process for another 30 seconds. Serve immediately.

Strawberry Kiwi Tea Smoothie

Tea makes this smoothie really different!

Strawberry and kiwi...a fruit match made in heaven! Strawberries are best when in season during peak summer, and kiwis are usually abundant during this time as well. The tea flavor lightens the fruit taste and adds some variety to this smoothie recipe.

Ingredients:

-1/2 cup fresh strawberries, cut and frozen
-1 whole kiwi, peeled, sliced and frozen
-1/2 cup black iced tea (other varities can be used)
-2 tbsp. lemon juice
-Crushed ice

Directions:

1. Place the tea and stawberries in a blender. Blend for about 1 minute until slightly blended. 2.Add the kiwi slices and lemon juice. Blend for one minute, and add a handful of crushed ice to the blender. Blend for another minute until well blended.
3. Serve immediately!

having trouble blending your drink?

The fruit might be too frozen, or the chunks too big. Try adding a little juice, yogurt or water to the mix to soften it up slightly (when the power is off and unplugged!). Use a spoon to push the mixture towards the blade to remix it (again, with the power off and unplugged!).

A way to use up old fruit

Smoothies are a good way to prevent fruit from going to waste, but they won't taste their best unless they're at their perfect ripeness and are cut and prepared just before you make the smoothie.

Top Reasons to Drink Smoothies

They're not just tasty, they're incredibly healthy!

  • Skip the processed food and fake filler ingredients and opt for fresh, raw fruit instead! The health benefits of fresh fruit are everywhere on the web.
  • It's the perfect way to start a diet! Smoothies are an easy to make meal replacement that help speed up your metabolism. Just watch the intake of these tasty treats, they do have plenty of natural sugar as well.
  • Use up old fruit instead of throwing it away! It's a money saver and it's good for you.
  • Increase your fruit and veggie intake! Most Americans don't get enough produce in their diet, and this is an easy way to sneak them in.
  • You can even include vegetables in your smoothies! Look for recipes that include sweet potato, carrots, beets, celery, kale and others to vary your smoothies.
