When upgrading or replacing their computers, many businesses will resell their OptiPlex computers to a hungry market for good used computers. Dell also sells it used/refurbished OptiPlex and other computers at its outlet web site.
Due to its popularity, there is a large secondary market for the OptiPlex including parts like motherboards.
The OptiPlex computer has a proprietary motherboard along with the power supply which make the OptiPlex impossible to upgrade with standard form factor motherboards.
