Treating Depression
Knowing how to treat your depression is a part of self help but here there is more...An outline of most of the popular ways of treating depression.
Causes of depression
1. Biological
2. Genetic
3. Psychological
First, family history plays a big part in the causes of depression. It can be genetic, i.e. it runs in the family. Just like people have increased risk of heart disease you may be at risk of depression due to your genes. this kind of depression can last for many generations.
Psychological causes include stress and problems resulting from events in your life. Death of a friend or relative or breakups are common triggers for psychological depression. Life changes like divorce, graduating or starting a new job may also trigger depression.
Negative thinking is something that can spiral out of control and lead to depression if not checked.
Low self esteem is also another major factor in causing depression. This is something you should read up on and do something about if you feel very bad about yourself.
Biological causes include chemical imbalances in the brain that may be connected to medical reasons or illness.
Certain conditions can also have the side effect of depression such as anxiety problems, panic attacks, heart disease or cancer.
