Depression and Women

Studies have shown that women suffer from depression twice as much as men do. In the past, many things have been blamed on a woman's biological function and scientists have done lots of research to prove it. At last, they have also discovered many other reasons.

Depression and Panic Attacks Solution

Other than a woman's biological function, other factors come into a play as well. The life style can affect to suffer from depression. Many years ago, women had no freedom and controlled by her father , husband or son. This may lead to depression. But if they are out of control and have their own life style, the new problem will be came , such as the stress from work, the relationship problem, the loss of a loved one, or financial changes. Owing to this reason, they may be into a deep depression.

Depression and Different Types of Phobias

As the position of women is accepted by the society, society shows us images of what women are "expected" to be. That is so rigorous that only few women can achieve it. Women often judge whether she is right or not by the reaction of men and think that this is what they are supposed to be. This in turn affects the self-esteem, which in turn can lead to depression.
Once a woman has a baby, she will be in a real quandary. To meet the men's favor and to apply the old standard to bring up the baby are both necessary. This has contributed to even more self-esteem issues. They often ask themselves: "Who am I and who am I supposed to be?"

Control Your Own Life

The hormones also play so important role that women do suffer from depression more often than men. As the hormones change in the time of menopause, menstruate or having a baby, the women are much easy to suffer from depression. Never assume that a woman is just suffering from PMS, and that everything will be better in a few days. There are many aspects of life that contribute to depression for women.

Some dos and don'ts when you're depressed

1.Don't isolate yourself. Stay in touch with your loved ones and friends, your religious advisor, and your family doctor.
2.Don't make major life decisions (for example, about separation or divorce). You may not be thinking clearly right now, so your decisions may not be the best ones for you.
3.Don't blame yourself for your depression. You didn't cause it.
4.Don't be discouraged about not feeling well right away. Be patient with yourself.
5.Don't give up.
6.Do exercise every day to make yourself feel better and to get more energy.
7.Do eat balanced meals and healthy food, and get enough sleep.
8.Do take your medicine and/or go to counseling as often as your doctor tells you to. Your medicine won't work if you only take it once in a while.
