Derby County FC - also known as the Rams - is a football club playing in the English Championship League. The club won promotion to the Premier League by winning the championship playoffs at the end of the 2006-2007 season, but didn't manage to challenge the other teams and keep their place, so they were relegated at an early point in the season.
Derby County FC has won two league titles in the mid 1970s, and the first club to win the FA Cup after WWII in 1945-1946.
The club plays its home games at the Pride Park Stadium, a modern 33,500 capacity all-seater stadium owned by the club. It has been their home ground since 1997. Plans has been submitted to extend the ground to a 44,000 capacity by the end of the 2007-2008 season
Derby County FC is owned by a consortium of local businessmen, led by property millionaire Peter Gadsby, who is chairman of the club.
Derby County FC is managed by former manager of Wigan Athletic, Paul Jewell, after the club parted company with former manager, Billy Davies by mutual consent.
Team Captain is Matthew Oakley, a midfielder with a good eye for the game, who is know for his shots from the distance.
Other key players in the squad are: Stephen Bywater (GK), Claude Davis (D), Tyrone Mears (D) and Robert Earnshaw (A)
