Dermalogica Barrier Repair - What it Can Do For Your Skin

Barrier Repair uses the best of nature by using organic silicones from plants. Dermalogica decided to use silicones in this moisturiser, because silicones are great moisturisers. They do not clog the skin, they act as a barrier and keep the skin hydrated, reduce irritation and makes the skin feel really smooth.

To strengthen the barrier function dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane are used. They are two silicones that are very similar that enhance the skin's barrier. Silicones act like a filler by slowing sliding in between the skin cells and this improves the barrier function of the skin, protects the skin and reduces moisture loss and dehydration.

Silicones are very important because of the way they repair the skin, reducing dehydration and therefore sensitivity.

Barrier Repair contains anti-ozonate complex consisting of (fumeric acid, furmitory extract and lemon extract) infused with the silicones. Protection from pollution is a must. Fumeric Acid is a super ingredient as it protects the membranes, enzymes and vitamins of the skin.

Pollution and sunlight combined together makes ground level ozone (environmental pollution). This is very toxic and destroys the vitamin E stored within your skin cells. Vitamin E is actually reduced by 25% when your skin is exposed to this ozone for just two hours.

If you are concerned with ageing you must use vitamin E. Vitamin E protects your cells membranes, when vitamin E is reduced this speeds up the ageing process - that is why you need to apply vitamin E to your skin. Vitamin E has antioxidant properties, smoothes the skin, protects the skin's barrier functions and deeply moisturises. Thank goodness barrier repair contains vitamin E.

This dermalogica moisturiser also contains vitamin C as it protects the skin and has antioxidant properties.
This moisturiser also uses Shea Butter and Evening Primrose Oil.

The barrier function of the skin is strengthened thanks to Evening Primrose Oil and the skin is protected thanks to Shea Butter.

When looking at your skin dehydration can be spotted by the signs of dry, scaly or flaky patches and your skin can feel tight. If you actually gently pulled your skin, if it's dehydrated it will form sort of crinkles and even if your skin is oily, you can still experience dehydration.

Dermalogica use part of the chamomile plant called bisabolol an inflammatory ingredients that soothes, heals and calms irritated skin.

This sensitive skin repairing moisturiser works by restoring the barrier function of the skin and it's humectants (hydration) properties restore the internal water balance in the skin. Severe dehydrated skins will need to use another moisturiser such as intensive moisture balance over the top of this product. Expect to wait at least three weeks to see improvement in your skin.

Dermalogica's skin smoothing cream is also a great moisturiser you can use over the top for extra hydration. This product is to be used when your skin is environmentally sensitized. When your skin is repaired you can go back to your normal dermalogica moisturiser.

From time to time I experience a sensitized skin condition on my neck, I use the whole environmental dermalogica range on my neck morning and night and after two weeks, it is normal again and I change back to my normal skin care routine.
