Ranked #457 in Movies & TV, #10,985 overall

This great show from HGTV has a very simple premise.

Transform a room from blah to bling in under $1000.  They do it every episode of "Design on a Dime".  This usually is done by shopping in thrift stores, remnant shops, garage sales, and large warehouse types stores to get the best items for the best price they can.  A lot of the magic of the transformation is done by the 3-man team, mixing skills as carpenters, furniture restorers, sewers, and interior designers.  They've done a wide variety of rooms from kitchens and bedrooms, kid's playroom and offices.  Sometimes it's amazing the way they reuse and recycle things for new purposes (who would have thought of creating an overhead light fixture out of hubcaps, or a copper pot?).

The result is always a top-notch room, and for under $1000 which is just amazing.  There have been two books produced based on the show, showing the transformations, and explaining the various techniques used.  I have purchased the books, and enjoyed them very much!  They are both available from Amazon at the links below, and if you'd like to transform a room in your house yourself, they'd be great resources.

The main cast of Design on a Dime

Hosts: Sam Kivett, Lee Snijders, Kristan Cunningham, Frank Fontana, Kahi Lee, and Brice Cooper

Design Team: Kristan Cunningham, Spencer Anderson, Summer Baltzer, Dave Sheinkopf, Charles Burbridge, Ali Azhar, Abraham Hopkins, and Kelly Edwards

The 3-man design teams would have 1 host and two designers (Kristan has served both capacities) who all work on the transformation of the room. This takes the form of shopping for new furniture, sewing curtains, and custom building furniture, lamps, or artwork.

Hi, I am a mother of 5, my family & I are originally from New Orleans, but due to hurricane Katrina, we now reside in texas! I LOVE design on a dime,& I just know that with their help & fabulous ideas, they can tranform my kids room & family room to a very comfortable & cozy, home-like setting & style, that would help us to adjust better. I believe when your home is organized, your life is organized, & with 5 kids, 3 in one room & 2 in another, & trying to fix the kids room & family up to fit their likes & needs for sleeping & studying, can get very complicated & expensive. With all these personalities going on, I know that with the help of God & of course, Design on a dime, we can find comfortableness, peace, & stability for our family. & finally feel at home! Thanks

My 7yr. old just watched your show today. He was totally amazed by the transformation you did in a 10 yr. olds bedroom. He turned to me and asked if they could come to our house and help with his bedroom. I told him I would give it a try. We are grandparents raising our grandson on a retired budget. We sure could use your help. Your show is full of information and creativity. Please keep these shows coming for us to enjoy, Thanks
