Let My Girlfriend Teach You How To Design Your Own Engagement Ring

Below is a small excerpt of my conversation with my girlfriend when we are discussing what kind of engagement ring we should design :

G = My Girlfriend
M = Me

G : Darling, what kind of engagement ring will you be giving me?
M : You will know when the time comes.
G : Then can I have a small small request please... (her eyes are looking at me from low and they are shining... I know I will lose to this!)
M : Ok, what can I do for you?
G : Can the engagement ring be the most unique one in the world? I don't want my engagement ring to be identical and can be found in all jewelry shops.
M : This sounds impossible... do you think I can do it?
G : Of course! You can design your own engagement ring FOR ME!!!

Suddenly, I can see light coming out from her eyes. I think she is starting to imagine something... here comes the 30minute lecture from her :

G : First, you must think what kind of diamond I want. Do you know what kind of diamond I like?
M : Ermm... big one?
G : Yes :) clever boy, then?
M : Ermm... shiny one?
G : Yes :) muaks, here is a kiss (yeah!!!) , then?
M : That's all?
G : You are almost there, but I want a good quality diamond too, preferable D grade. But, seems you are poor (ouch, it hurts), I will just request a big and shiny diamond from you. You do not need to aim for 1carat since it will be very expensive.
M : Ok.
G : Ok what? Jot down everything I said!!!
M : Ok... (busy jotting down)
G : Then, I want 18k white gold band, I want the setting to be tension setting so that my diamond can float! Jot it down.
M : Ok...

(p/s : do you realize that I keep on saying ok and nodding my head? This is what happen when your girlfriend is lecturing you, you cannot fight back)

G : Ok, the design part, how the band looks like, I will give it to you to do, but it must be nice, pretty and beautiful ok?
M : Ok.
G : Here comes the most important part, you must propose to me and give me the engagement ring at a very very very romantic place. Remember, must be romantic! Don't bring me to the hawker center!
M : What's wrong with hawker center? The food is nice and cheap. I don't like high class restaurant, I feel so uneasy there.
G : Shut up! I say ROMANTIC! Do you know what is romantic?
M : Yes... I know... :(
G : Great. Remember, I have a very high expectation on you :) muaks.
M : Ok.
