Assign Designated Drivers

Travel Time ...... Time to Save Lives ...

It's that time of the year again ... Major Holiday Season.
Make it easy to be the responsible one over this peak party time and equip your students/family/friends or customers with a cool and effective system to designate a driver. By making the person(s) responsible for this task feel important and appreciated you can almost guarantee a successful season. With the proper supplies you can feel confident knowing that every possible angle has been covered to ensure that a designated driver(s) is available for all. Choose those people that will be doing the job and congratulate them with a card thanking them for taking on this huge responsibility. It is well known that when you apply a title to a job or position people take more pride in the outcome of the task. Send these cards using matching postage stamps to complete a package they can keep as part of their prom (or event) remembrance. Who would not be proud to show their family these special momentos. You can present them with a T-shirt and matching hat down to a mug and keychain.

In order to make it easy for anyone at an event to locate one of these life saving people give them a button or sticker to wear. I have had people supply the actual drivers with buttons and added individuals who were privy to the project were given stickers. The people wearing the stickers may feel more approachable to certain clicks of kids/people and be able to set up the ride.

You can set up any kind of system that is right for your event but always remember that this is an important part of planning the occasion. It might actually be the most important and overlooked part of the plans that need to be made. Please have a wonderful and safe season.

New Designated Driver Product

Designated Driver Sign Up Sheets
This is great for any place that is in need of volunteers to be designated drivers. It is especially effective for schools when Prom comes around. It is not meant to promote drinking it is meant to save lives. There are always the few that will have a drink or two on this eventful evening. It is after all a celebration of a milestone in life. Offering designated drivers will show that you are a responsible educator. In the past little more was done than to tell kids don't drink which does not work with everyone. Teach them how to cover all the bases when it comes to something as irreplaceable as life. Designated Driver Shirts

Everyone knows kids love to be special and there is no better way to make them feel special than by putting an entire kit together for them. Schools can make it a very big deal by announcing that only certain individuals will be chosen to fill the designated driver positions. When these people are finally picked don't announce it to them at school but send them a special card complete with a matching stamp that they will be able to save to show their kids or just future generations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Consistent and accurate breathalyzer, September 16, 2007

I am a former police officer and based on my experience, this unit seems to be both accurate and consistent. Obviously, you don't want to use it with fresh alcohol in your mouth, or it's going to give you an artificially high reading.

I note that one person gave this unit one star, and then said that the unit was reading high while acting as if it's the unit's fault that he apparently got arrested for DUI. First off, if in fact the unit was reading high (as much as 50%, as he put it), then why in the world did he get behind the wheel of a car? I can see a beef if it reads low, but how can you blame an arrest on a unit that (maybe) reads high?

Also, when in doubt ***DON'T GET BEHIND THE WHEEL!!!*** Driving while intoxicated is very serious business. It's not just about getting caught by the police, but more importantly, you could kill or maim some innocent person or yourself. I've seen a number of cases firsthand where young children with their lives ahead of them were killed by drunk drivers. Try living with that on your conscience, not to mention the legal and financial consequences.

But the bottom line is that I recommend this breathalyzer. It's compact, relatively inexpensive, and the user replaceable sensor is a big plus. Just remember that it is a useful tool, perhaps even entertaining, but it's certainly not a substitute for good judgement and common sense.

I owned a breathalyzer in the past, and the worst part was periodically having to mail it in to the manufacturer for calibration service. I really like that the Prestige uses the replaceable sensors, so I can just swap them out when it comes time (The test counter is good for letting me know when). All my tests have been really accurate for me, as long as I wait 20 minutes after drinking, like it says in the manual. I don't know about comparing it to police breathalyzers either, I think they cost ten times as much.

I bought one of these for a friend who had suffered a DUI and couldn't afford to get another. We use it when we've been out to a party or drinking after work and want to know whether it is safe to drive. There's been more than once that we went back inside to "cool off" for about an hour before driving home because this thing read over the limit. I certainly didn't feel like I was impaired - it is pretty surprising just how low .08 really is. For me, that is about two microbrews and my friend, three. It does make a big difference whether you've eaten much that day as well. I think the people complaining about this device either aren't following the directions, or aren't willing to believe they are over the limit when they really are. I've never gotten a 000 reading after having anything at all to drink, but have tested it without drinking and every time got 000. Follow the simple instructions and it will work for you too.

    BACtrack S75 Pro Breathalyzer
Accurate and East to Use!, March 19, 2010

This review is from: BACtrack S75 Pro Breathalyzer
I decided to purchase the S75 after my sister gave me an old breathalyzer she had received from Sharper Image or a store like it. I definitely saw the value in using a breathalyzer when going out and having any amount of alcohol to drink, but the results I got were all over the map, so I questioned its accuracy. That meant it was time for a new purchase!

I checked out a number of brands and models of Breathalyzers and went with the S75. This model is one of the "professional" models from Bactrack, so it's the same technology used by law enforcement. More than the fact that sounds good -- it really works! I have used it - actually I have purposely tested it, in different circumstances and over time and results are accurate and consistent. It's easy to use and small enough to stash away at home or in the glove compartment - highly recommended!

    AlcoHAWK Q3I-2800 Slim Ultra
OK, But Important Info To Know About This Product, September 21, 2010
    By
Geoffrey Kleinman (Portland, OR USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: AlcoHAWK Q3I-2800 Slim Ultra
Priced around $50, this small hand-held device gives you a sense of where you are and if you might be best served to call a taxi for a ride home.

The operation of the AlcoHAWK is very simple. Press the red button on the front of the unit and wait 45-60 seconds for the unit to be ready. It would be nice if the unit were ready to go immediately as waiting for it to get ready can be frustrating. Once the unit is ready, you simply blow into the mouthpiece (they provide 3 interchangeable ones) for about 5 seconds, until the unit beeps and displays your blood alcohol level.

If it weren't for a few caveats, we'd heartily recommend this product as an essential tool for anyone who goes out drinking. However there are some significant issues. First, you cannot drink, smoke or eat at least twenty minutes before using the AlcoHAWK. This makes the device pretty impractical if you want to get a read when you are out for dinner or just had a few drinks. Secondly, the instruction manual recommends the unit be recalibrated at least every six to twelve months, which means mailing the unit back to the manufacturer. They are currently offering a free recalibration from their site, but it's important to know going in that you'll incur additional expenses. The final caveat is a real deal killer, though: the manufacturer claims that the unit is only proven accurate at BAC (blood alcohol concentration) levels below 0.032, far below the levels you'd need to have it be accurate if you've had a few drinks.

Bumper Sticker

Bumper stickers will allow even tipsy individuals that have already left an event be able to locate a designated driver by simply waiting near a vehicle with the stickers. These stickers can be customized to your event.
