Honestly, it isn't very hard.

If you want to make your own designs, I suggest you start with Zazzle. (You can move over to Cafepress once you are a bit more comfortable.)

The easiest type of shirt (or mug, or whatever) is one with just text. In other words, just words.

Go to Zazzle.com. There is a bar near the top. The first is "Shop Departments", the next is "Create". If you put your mouse over the create it will show you many choices for products. Click on the one you want to make. That will bring you to a page showing you information about the product. If it is what you want, then click the orange create button. That will bring you to a design screen.

Ignore the picture section for now. Just type in the words you want to have on your product in the "Add some text to your design (optional)" section. Then click "Make it now". You could be done, if you like the result.

If you want a bit more, you can click on the + and - next to a number. That will increase or decrease the size of the letters. You can click on the "f" which will allow you to change the font (the way the letters look). If you click on the black square next to the number, you will be able to change the color of the letters.

If you are happy, you can "Add to cart" and buy what you just made. See, easy!
