Designer Purses and Handbags

I love handbags.  It seems that just when I think I've found the handbag of my dreams another comes along to take my breath away.  I don't know about you, but my latest gotta-have-it handbag is the Corto Moltedo Priscilla Luxor Bag. This handbag runs about $1300, which isn't bad for a designer handbag, but try to tell that to the husband!!

My most wanted handbag of all time has to be the one that got away, but isn't that how life is? It's always the one that got away. It's a turquoise/python Be&D Crawford Bag from the Spring of 2004. Hmm, both of these bags are blue, I've just realized that!

Well, I don't have either of these bags but I do have many really nice ones. Brahmin is one of my favorite brands of handbag, I have three Brahmin bags. Salvatore Ferragamo is another favorite, but I only own one and it's quite a bag. It's a hair-calf satchel I bought about five years ago.  Every time I take it out of it's dust bag I love it just as much as the first time I saw it.  And, it ALWAYS gets compliments, always.

I've often wondered what makes a handbag an "it" bag.  A little investigation finds that part of what makes a handbag an "it" bag is limited availability.  People want what others can't have. So, the harder something is to find the more in demand it becomes.  I guess like supply and demand, OK.  Then there's what the bag is made of. Handbags of alligator, ostrich or snakeskin are exceedingly expensive due to the cost of the animal skins.  Bling added to a handbag makes it an "it" handbag too. Some designers add diamonds, gold and even platinum hardware to handbags causing prices to rise exorbitantly.

How about The Style Groups Top 10 handbag list, ever seen it? Well, a few of the bags on it are in 10th place Marc Jacobs Alligator Sofia bag, 7th is Louis Vuitton's Beige Vertical Alligator Carryall, 4th is Prada's Apple-Green Crocodile Bag, 2nd place goes to Dolce & Gabbana and their Bright Violet Croc bag and the number one bag according to The Style Group is Valentino's White Fur Hobo bag.  Now, I don't know about you, but after seeing these handbags there isn't one that I'd carry.  It's back to my Brahmins.
