20 Free Windows Desktop Security Tools
I left firewalls out intentionally. I don't feel there are any good free software firewalls worth mentioning. COMODO or ZoneAlarm are the two free firewalls that I have the most experience with. They work fine but since my laptop has resource issues, I choose the Windows Firewall instead. I purchased Trend Micro Internet Security for my desktops that have at least 1GB of RAM. You seem to get what you pay for when it comes to firewalls.
