Make a delicious Tiramisu dessert shooter

Tiramisu dessert shooters - the newest creation in Italian desserts!

Tiramisu dessert shooters are just like the full sized Italian dessert made traditionally with lady fingers (no, not real lady fingers...), marscapone cheese, eggs, and a custard only these dessert shooters are made in smaller size glasses. Tiramisu is usually layered in a trifle glass anyway so just selecting a smaller glass (such as a 3 or 4 ounce shot glass) will make a fully satisfying dessert in a mini dessert size - you'll still get the full flavor but it won't be as filling and you'll save calories to boot! That's a win-win situation!

And, by adding a few extra items, such as chocolate chips or coffee covered espresso beans as a garnish, you wlll make this the best mini dessert ever after a filling Italian spaghetti and meatballs dinner.

Since these mini desserts are so light, consider mixing up a few different flavors, such as Key Lie Pie or Smores dessert shooters to serve alongside. Figure on 2 or 3 dessert shooters per person and, if you're lucky, you'll have leftovers!

Another great tiramisu dessert shooter glass

I found these glasses in Key West and quickly searched them online to find them MUCH cheaper. I think the martini glass, in particular, would make a great tiramisu dessert shooter presentation.

There's nothing better than ladyfingers dipped in Kahlua

...especially when they're mine!

You'll need just 10 ladyfingers for this Tiramisu dessert shooter recipe.

The ladyfinger layer in Tiramisu is traditionally dipped in black espresso coffee. That's fine but, imho, what the heck is Tiramisu without a shot of Kahlua or Brandy or your favorite liquor?

Place 10 ladyfingers in espresso to soak up the liquor. Reserve 5 ladyfinger cookies for garnish.

If you can't find ladyfingers in your local store or bakery, feel free to use either sponge cake, angel food cake, or plain yellow cake. Your tiramisu won't suffer if you cheat a bit here.

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. ~Author Unknown

Make the Tiramisu Marscapone Layer

Kahlua flavored dessert shooter cups!

NOW we're talking! What could possibly be better than making your tiramisu dessert shooter in a Kahlua flavored cup? Wish I'd found these last week when I served these delicious mini desserts!

Assemble the Tiramisu Dessert Shooter

Assembling your Tiramisu dessert shooters is the most fun yet.

Simply place 1/2 of the espresso soaked ladyfinger in the bottom of a 4 ounce dessert shooter glass. Top with a thin layer of marscapone cheese mixture and sprinkle with the liquor of your choice (Kahlua is my fave). Dust with just a bit of cocoa powder. Repeat the layers - another ladyfinger half, more cheese mixture, another sprinkle of liquor and a dusting of cocoa. Finish with a dollop of whipped cream and set one of the unsoaked ladyfingers atop your dessert shooter as a garnish.

Dig in - what are you waiting for?

Fabulous Fakes

AKA - isn't there an easier way?

Sure, there's an easier way to make that Tiramisu dessert shooter! You'll still need to soak some sort of cake in espresso but you can take a short cut on the marscapone layer.

Mix up a chocolate instant pudding and a vanilla instant pudding and layer them alternatively into the dessert shooter glass. It won't be quite as tasty, but close!

You can also use pre-made puddings in your grocer's refrigerator section.

For an interesting twist, how about adding a layer of pre-made tapioca pudding in there too?

Just in case you need puddings...
