100 Themes Challenge:

If you are a member of the artist's social network website deviantART you may have heard of the 100 themes challenge, perhaps you have heard about it even if your'e not! You may be wondering what all the excitement with this is, or just what it is in general...

Here I'm going to write a little about the 100 themes challenge, put in the challenge themes so you can easily find them here, and then put in my thoughts towards this new challenge.

What Is deviantART?

deviantART (ordinarily abbreviated as dA) is an on-line community featuring a variety of varieties of user-made art. This was initially released on August 7, 2000 by Scott Jarkoff, Matthew Stephens and Angelo Sotira, amongst some others deviantART, Inc. is headquartered on Hollywood Boulevard in the Hollywood division of Los Angeles, California, United States.

As of May 2009 the website includes more than 10 million users, more than 81 million submissions, and gets close to 105,000 submissions every day. The domain deviantart.com attracted no less than 36 million visitors yearly by 2008 according to a Compete.com analysis. deviantART aspires to make a location for any artist to show and discuss works. Works are structured in a comprehensive category structure, including photography, digital art, traditional art, literature, Flash, filmmaking, and skins for applications, among others, together with extensive downloadable resources for example tutorials and stock photography. Fella, a small, robotic, cat character, is the official deviantART mascot.

What Is The 100 Themes Challenge On deviantART?

(Let's just say your an artist who draws for the example)

The 100 themes challenge is open for anyone to participate in, and has no time limit. The challenge is to draw a drawing that represents a relevant theme. EX: Say that one of the themes is Love, if you were part of the 100 themes challenge you would draw a drawing that represents Love to you personally.

Of course while expressing the themes in your own way in your work you still have to follow the deviantART guidelines and rules. Other then this the entire thing is pretty much open.

My Thoughts On the 100 Themes Challenge:

Personally I think the 100 theme challenge is an excellent idea! I also think it's something that would be awesome to participate in... I think that doing this challenge, having to try to portray so many different themes in your drawings would take a certain amount of thought and creativity, in this I think that it will expand the horizons of thinking in the artist who participates in the challenge, ultimately allowing them to expand their creative horizons when doing projects and other art that they may be doing.

I think that this challenge is a wonderful way to really push your self to improve, to encourage yourself to work towards something, everyday have something to work towards... too look forward to.

Who Can Do The 100 Themes challenge?

Everyone can do deviantART's 100 themes challenge! My point is that I think that this 100 theme challenge is a good thing for everyone, and it can be for everyone... I know writers, artists and photographers that are all taking part in the 100 theme challenge.

Although most of the action with this is going on in the deviantART community, even people who are not a part of deviantART can do this... putting up your finished works on a blog, website, photo hosting account or maybe even HubPages can all be options for people without deviantART accounts.
