My Birth Of the Drawing Age
So much ink, so little time...
Each precarious pen stroke is not taken for granted!
I spend 6-10 hours on each one, like the popular Jaguar, which took about 7 hours to draw. I first learned about my keen ability to replicate the likeness and details of animals when I was in 5h grade. I drew a horse and foul, upscaled from an image on a little address book. I don't remember the amount of hours that I spent on that drawing, but I took such pride in it that I wanted to create more.
I enlisted in the Art Instructions Schools (that you see in the back of magazines). My father took the courses when he was little and never finished. Well, I guess it runs in the family because I didn't either. I got bored with the lessons. They weren't things that I wanted to draw. Being a young girl, all I wanted to draw was horses and unicorns. They did take 3 of my drawings from my collection though that I will never get back. I can't even remember what they were at this point.
Although it was boring, it helped me learn the vast range of talents that I possessed. My creative ability stemmed from drawing and developed into crafting anything. I taught myself how to Tat one day from a book. Even though, it's an incredibly time consuming craft with little results as the string is so thin; I was able to do it. Along with tatting and drawing, I learned that I can make anything with my hands, like plastic canvas houses, Dreamcatchers, and many more creative crafts.
As crafts and pencil drawings progressed, so did the years. Once I hit high school, I was drawing on notebooks everywhere. In my generation, I was in the middle of the gel-pen craze and I got hooked, as well. My notebooks were covered in pen doodles. I grew so bored with my classes that I didn't have anymore notebook space to fill. I started carrying a sketchbook with me class to class and thus stemmed the Pen Art Collection. My inexplicable need to cover every open patch of white space on the page transitioned into the meticulous, intense drawings that I have today, like Flames.
