Sacred Earth and Healing
The monks are on a goodwill tour of the United States and are raising funds to equip their new medical clinic. While the 7 monks are on tour, they are offering to lecture, build sand mandalas, and perform empowerments and healing ceremonies. If you and your community would be interested in hosting the monks, please contact the tour manager, Ven. Lobsang Wangchuk at cell: 562-794-6700 or email the monks at gashartour@gmail.com.
Note: if you missed this years tour, not to worry, they come back annually. Just email them and start planning for the next one.
Healing Arts of Tibet
Background: Founded by Lama Tsong Khapa in the 14th century, Gaden Monastery was one of Tibet's largets monastic universities. It was destroyed during the Communist invasion in 1959. The monastery has since been reestablished in Mundgod, India, through the hard work of the monks themselves, many of whom escaped from Tibet with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. The monastery currently houses about 3,000 monks. The Gaden Shartse Charitable Hospital officially opened on February 1, 2007 with the intention to serve anyone in the region including monks, nuns, Tibetan and Indian lay people.
Though the Tibetans have been in India almost 50 years, the monastery and surrounding villages in the South still lack many basic amenities. The monastic community in particular is still dependent on donations from the international community to cover their minimal running costs and needs.
Due to the kindness of sponsors, a clinic building has already been constructed in Gaden Monastery but is currently empty. The clinic is in need of medicine, equipment, supplies, and professional doctors to provide proper medical support. Funds raised from this tour will go towards equipping the hospital and treating those in need.
They need funds for a laboratory facility, office supplies and equipment, an X-Ray machine, a generator, and salaries for doctors/dentist (3)

Have you ever experienced watching a sand mandala being created?

This Buddha plaque is an original sculptural work individually artist-reproduced in cast stone/fine concrete. Sturdy, thick and weather-resistant, the use of cast stone allows this plaque to be used indoors or outdoors. A light patina finish adds a rich luster and "aged" look to the plaque and emphasizes the depth of the relief. Individually cast, sealed and finished in the USA.
