My Seven Suggestions On the Diabetes Diet and How The Diabetic Can Survive the Holidays and Parties

How do you keep your diabetes diet at parties? This can be a challenge! This lens covers my suggestions on how to survive all the holidays and parties.  Diabetics are especially challenged through this time.  However, you do not need to despair!  Hope is here! Remember, this is the time to be festive. It is party time. You are going to eat so plan on it. If your sugar levels get a little high, don't beat yourself over the head. Stay positive, but be sure to bring it under control.

Who am I to offer you advice?  I am a 30 year diabetic.  For years I did not regard this disease with the respect it is due, and I have paid for it.  However, for the past years my diabetes sugar levels have been mostly in the normal range, and my A1C numbers have been in the mid to lower 6's.  Plus I have read and written many articles on diabetes treatment.  Thank you for coming by, and I hope this lens web site will be of help!

Remember your stomach can only hold so much. During the holidays lots of people go to parties very hungry. No wonder they eat too much. Make certain you have a reasonable breakfast and lunch the day of the party. Eat a yogurt or other healthy snack before you land.

This is the best way to maintain control. Don't skip testing during the holidays. Make sure that your blood sugars stay in check. Sometimes even the best laid eating plans go awry because you can't always know exactly what went into that food you ate.
