Diabetes Symptoms - Take Charge!

Diabetes is a chronic and complex disease.  There are approximately 21 million people in the United States today with diabetes.  Almost half of these people don't know they have diabetes.  Worldwide, it is estimated there are 194 million people worldwide who have diabetes.

Early detection is one of the best ways to combat diabetes.  Familiarize yourself with the diabetes symptoms.  If you have any diabetes symptoms seek professional help immediately.  A visit to your physician can easily determine if you have diabetes.  The diagnostic tests are simple and require little time.

The benefits of recognizing diabetes symptoms and taking control will last a lifetime.  Properly treated diabetics can live a long and productive live.  Left untreated diabetes can result in severe complications and even death.  Don't delay.  Learn the diabetes symptoms and get help if you or your children have any of these diabetes symptoms.

Controlling Diabetes

There are five important steps to controlling your diabetes. These five steps can help prevent complications, as well as allow you to live a normal, productive life.
  1. Obviously, controlling your blood sugar is the most important part of controlling your diabetes. To get good control requires regular blood sugar testing. Several factors affect your blood sugar. The only way to determine cause and effect is by checking your blood sugar on a daily basis at scheduled times throughout the day.
  2. The second step to controlling your blood sugar is diet. The foods you eat plays a major role in blood sugar as well as weight loss. According to Harvard Medical School researchers, diabetic women who ate fish just once a week had a 40% less risk of heart disease than women who had fish less than once a month. So, you need to be sure to add fish or a fish oil supplement like Salmon Oil Plus to your diet immediately.
  3. The third important step to controlling your blood sugar is exercise. Exercise can help to significantly bring blood sugar under control. If you haven't had physical activity in a while, be sure to discuss with your physician before beginning any exercise program.
  4. Controlling your diabetes is a major undertaking. You should not attempt by yourself. It is important to have health care professionals to help you. Make sure to choose professionals that match your medical needs as well as your personality. You must feel free to talk openly about your condition, if you're to receive the best care and assistance.
  5. The fifth step to controlling your diabetes is stress management. High levels of stress can affect your blood sugar as well as cause other health conditions. It is important to learn and practice stress management. Consult your physician for recommended stress management practices.

My Recommendation For Diabetes Prevention

Basically, what I recommend you do is remove the sugar from your diet and add (or increase) the amount of fatty fish or fish oil that you're getting.

In fact, the American Heart Association is so confident of fish oil benefits that they recommend everyone, including diabetics, eat fatty fish at least two or three times a week.

So if you're already diabetic, or just want to protect yourself from this disease, you need to start eating fatty fish like salmon, tuna or sardines at least three times each week.

If you can't do that, you need to start supplementing your diet with a pure omega 3 fish oil supplement. The one I recommend is Salmon Oil Plus.

Salmon Oil Plus gives you the recommended amount of 1 gram of the omega 3 fatty acids DHA and EPA. That's just what you need to stay healthy.

What Causes Diabetes Symptoms?

Diabetes symptoms appear because of the body's inability to use sugar in the bloodstream to fuel cells. Without insulin, sugar remains in the blood where the kidneys eventually try to filter it out and recycle it for later use.

When sugar levels become excessive, the kidneys are unable to filter it all. The glucose (sugar) spills into the urine, taking water with it.

Left untreated, the body begins to burn stored fat for energy, resulting in weight loss and hunger. Potentially fatal metabolic disturbances can also occur.

Diabetes symptoms can easily be confused with signs of other medical conditions, or even not recognized. Sometimes as these symptoms begin, the occurrence is gradual and we don't even pay attention. It only when they become so severe that we can't ignore them that medical attention is sought.

Just a word of caution here, do not ignore diabetes symptoms. If detected early, diabetes can be controlled and chances of severe complications are reduced.
