Diablo: The Beginnings

Game 1

The storyline begins on the premise of a war between Heaven and Hell. Diablo, one of the Three Prime Evils of Hell, the most powerful lords of demonkind, was captured by a secretive order of mortal magi known as the Horadrim. The Horadrim imprisoned each of the Prime Evils in a Soulstone; Diablo's red stone was buried in caverns deep beneath the town of Tristram, and as the generations passed, was forgotten. The power of the Soulstone weakened over centuries, eventually allowing Diablo to use limited power from within the stone and to develop a plan to be free from the stone once and for all.

Diablo (the game) was first created in 1997 and begins in the small town of Tristam which has come under attack by demons, and the player must save the town and, in effect, the world, by ridding it of the Lord of Terror, Diablo. This quest travels through several layers of dungeons beneath Tristam battling demons of all sorts along the way to reach Diablo. A player can pick from three character classes: Warrior, Rogue, and Sorcerer, each with some specialized abilities.

Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction

Game 2

The story of Diablo II takes place after the end of the previous game, Diablo, in the lands of Sanctuary where Diablo, the Lord of Terror, was defeated by an unnamed warrior (the character you played in the previous Diablo Game). The hero who slew Diablo drove the demon's soulstone into his forehead in an attempt to contain him, but Diablo's soul was too strong and eventually corrupted him. Diablo was able to free himself from the soulstone and possess the corrupted warrior traveling far across the continent to free his two brothers, the Prime Evils, the superpowers of Hell. Diablo released Mephisto (Lord of Hatred) and Baal (Lord of Destruction) from their soulstones.

Diablo II was created just 3 years after the original in 2000. By 2001, it was one of the most popular online games ever in existance. Also in 2001 the expansion set was released which added the quest for Baal. Diablo II, Lord of Destruction, expanded on the World of Sanctuary by adding 5 Acts to the game, (4 acts until the expansion came out) each occuring in a different locations, having differently styled creatures and having a larger area than just one town to explore, you could even venture back to Tristam if you desired.

Character Classes of Diablo II

The origal Diablo had just three character classes from which to choose: Warrior, Rogue, and Sorcerer, each with some specialized abilities.

Diablo II added some new character classes and expanded on the originals. The orignal Diablo 2 had 5 character classes: Amazon, Barbarian, Sorceress, Necromancer, and Paladin;

Diablo 3

diablo 3

The Diablo III story takes place two decades after the three prime evils, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, wandered the world of Sanctuary in a vicious rampage to shackle humanity into unholy slavery. Yet for those who battled the evils directly, the memory fades slowly and the wounds of the soul still burn.

Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram's Cathedral seeking clues to new stirrings of evil, a comet strikes the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. The comet carries a dark omen in its fiery being and it calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells--and even the failing luminaries of the High Heavens itself.
