Jewelry Trends in 2008 - 2009
This lens is a place to get together and discuss jewelry, retailing, trends, imports, and anything about jewels!
As the season cools down, the jewelry colors are heating up!!
We all expect to see warm tones in jewelry designs as the year nears its conclusion, but what may surprise many jewelry lovers is that some of the old favorite jewel tones will be a must-have for the upcoming fall and winter season.
As the temperatures fall, the frivolity of summer frocks give way to seriously gorgeous, sharply cut outfits. Instead of frills and ruffles, structured cuts and simplicity rule.
Unlike past seasons where minimalist clothes demanded that one goes sans jewelry, this seasons looks are best highlighted with statement pieces. Timeless pieces that turn heads and go with simple clothes in black, or rich colors. Hey, you can even wear with spring and summer's lightweight dresses to add oomph to your look.
For starters, costume jewelry is back. With a vengeance. One can only go so far with precious gemstones. The best thing about these imitations is that they are very affordable. You could dress like a millionairess even if you are on a tight budget. Just accessorize your new gown or little black dress with an absolutely stunning crystal necklace.
Crystals are everywhere in the full spectrum of color. What better way to bring life to a structured dress with little detail than to accessorize it with brightly colored rocks. One statement accessory is enough. A small collection of statement jewelry is all you need to create your signature look. Wear one item at a time with your favourite dress. A change of accessories freshens your look instantly.
Cuff bracelets are statement jewels that turn a simple sheathe into a stunning outfit. Your little black sleeveless dress or strapless gown looks even more amazing with the addition of a single cuff bracelet.
Now is the time to collect statement jewelry to create your signature look. Take advantage of this season's offerings to build up your jewelry wardrobe.
"...I need your love to keep me warm...."
When you think of yellow, you probably think of the sun and the warm summer months that typically go along with it.
But, guess what. Even though the sun may not be at its strongest during the fall and winter months, the upcoming season is going to be a hot one for jewelry lovers.
Believe it or not, one of the fall & winter 2008-2009 popular jewelry colors is yellow! (See the chart in the next module)This means that your simulated canary diamond jewelry will look perfect when paired with your cold weather wardrobe. In addition, citrine, yellow topaz or their cubic zirconia substitutes will bring some welcome sunshine ( and some love! ) into your life as you remain on top of the seasonal jewelry trends. ~YEA!~
On a final note to the upcoming fall & winter 2008-2009 Jewelry Color Trends remember that some of the traditional favorites will be returning. Among them, shades of pumpkin, gray and chocolate brown will once again be a wise choice for fashion conscious consumers. What does this mean for jewelry lovers? Quite simply, it means that smoky quartz, simulated chocolate and/or champagne diamonds will be in style and on trend!

Color Forecast Guide Fall/Winter 2008-2009
Jewelry Trends 2009: Big Colors Update!
The 2009 season is focusing on rich moody hues like berry reds and damson purple added with raw umber. You can make every body look at you by pairing purple and red together to form a new color scheme. To make perfect accessories, you can try colorful gems like amethyst, iolite and tanzanite to give the garments an attractive look. The glorious rich blues with a range of royal sapphire, blue black ink, kingfisher teal, soft turquoise and blue stone earrings have returned as fashion tone and have established themselves. Green jewels like emerald dominate the latest fashion trend. The sea green is merged along with teal and turquoise. There is also a soft range of avocado greens, yellow toned olive and watery citrus greens
Costume jewelry suits well with precious gemstones. Statement jewelry with pieces like rubies or giant diamonds will catch the attention of robbers towards you. To be safe, you can keep the real priceless jewelry in a locker and wear only jewel imitations before the public.
With affordable imitations of necklaces, you can get a look of a millionaire though you tread on a tight budget. A stunning necklace is the best accessory for your new black dress or little gown. You can accessorize your structured dress with dazzling crystals, bright stones and colored rocks around your neck.
You can add cuff bracelets to make your stunning outfit look elegant along with strapless gown or just single cuff bracelet with amazing black sleeveless dress. Make investments without hesitation in the timeless classics of statement jewels that are hot for all seasons. You can create a signature look with the collection of simple statement accessories. Create a fresh look by frequently changing the statement jewelry along with your dress. Make the best use of season's offerings and build up your own wardrobe with your favorite collection of statement jewelry.
Apricot gold fashion feature melt creamy bananas, rust and citrus greens. You can watch out for exotic skin types and animal skin prints with tortoise and rich ginger as well as bags and shoes in golden leopard prints.
For the coldest winter season, colors like white cream, cocoa and taupe are watered down as pastel with features of lighter shades of crushed brown sugars and tangerine orange. You can match the warm earthy palette with taupes, pink based cocoa and cappuccino.
Celebrity Earrings!
There's been a lot of glitz and glamor this week for red carpet fashions, and dangle earrings are in this Spring. At the American Museum of Natural History Museum Dance in New York City on Thursday, Milla Jovavich was enchanting in a red velvet gown and sweeping curly hair. Her dangling earrings, drop necklace, and wide diamond bracelets just added to enchantment. Jessica Alba also looked cute as a button in her orange and black Narciso Rodriguez gown with a cute little up-do showing off some killer chandelier earrings.
But once again, Scarlet Johansson blew me away at the Moet & Chandon: A Tribute to Cinema party in London. Wearing a black lace Givenchy dress and champagne satin shoes. Scarlet completes her old Hollywood style with wavy hair and sparkling circle drop earrings.
There were some other great styles at both events, but when looking for some new earrings for your Spring silver jewelry collection, think long and dangly - it worked for these fashionable ladies!
Springl 2009 Trends In Jewelry!
There's no better way to add style and elegance to an outfit. Eye catching jewelry can give an outfit that extra edge and turn it in fabulous. Whether you're going to an evening party or simply enjoying a casual afternoon, jewelry is an important part of your overall look. As with clothing, jewelry trends come and go. The necklace or earrings style that's hot one year can look outdated the next. That's why it's a good idea to reassess your jewelry on a seasonal basis and fill in the gaps with some trendy new styles. Here are some of the best new jewelry trends for fall 2008/winter 2009 to keep you looking fashion forward and up to the minute:Bracelets, bracelets, bracelets
The wrist will take on new importance this fall and winter and what better way to flatter an appendage than with a bold cuff bracelet. Though a large, unadorned cuff bracelet makes a statement on its own, cuffs sprinkled with stones and jewels of all types are also fabulous. These bold statement pieces will take your wrists from ordinary to extraordinary without spending a fortune. Feeling creative? Buy a plain cuff bracelet and decorate it with the stones and jewels of your choice.
Necklaces with Drama
Necklaces will take on importance this fall and winter and are designed to make a bold statement. Look for an abundance of multi-strand necklaces and layering of strands to create a look that will take even the most ordinary outfit from fine to divine. Necklaces seen on the fashion runways ran the gamut in color and style, but they were all universally bold in their presentation. These "in your face" necklaces are best worn with simple clothing as all eyes will be drawn to your neck. Put away your small, demure chains and think big, bold, and eye catching when it comes to necklaces for fall.
Pendants
With so much emphasis on the neck, pendants are making a comeback and they're bold and dramatic like the necklaces they dangle from. Look for oversized coins, medallions, and gemstone pendants to add to your collection. Although super large pendants were emphasized in all the fashion runway shows, there's still a place for smaller, more delicate pendants if bold isn't your style. Just make sure you have some!
Natural stones
The green movement has hit the jewelry world in a big way. You'll see a proliferation of natural beads and stones adorning all types of jewelry this fall and winter. Look for natural gemstones such as jade and turquoise to be a hit along with wood, bone, and freshwater pearls. These are the perfect pieces to be incorporated into the dramatic statement necklaces that will be so popular this fall.
With so many choices, almost anything goes for fall and winter 2009 jewelry. Have fun experimenting with the many choices!
Titanium And Black Diamond Men's Rings
Titanium-Jewelry.com recognizes the demand from consumers for more modern, urban and contemporary jewelry designs for men. As noted at the JKC show in Las Vegas last week, mens jewelry is expanding to include new styles and designers offering consumers even more selections in sophisticated yet urban pieces.Jewelry designs featuring stainless steel, black diamonds, titanium and tungsten continually grow in demand among younger men and men of all ages who have more urban tastes. Titanium-jewelry.com provides mens wedding bands and jewelry constructed from the highest quality materials and manufacturing techniques, while keeping its focus on the trends and up and coming styles in jewelry.
Titanium-Jewelry.com recognizes the demand from consumers for more modern, urban and contemporary jewelry designs. Items such as the Triton® HALCYON bracelet which boasts twin rows of 50 lustrous black diamonds complemented with a heavy 10mm width bracelet; titanium rings with black diamonds; and the Clarion Black Diamond Dog Tag Necklace have been leading sales in recent months.
JKC keynote speaker, Russell Simmons discussed his new line Simmons Jewelry which he developed to help raise awareness for the Diamond Empowerment Fund. Likewise, many of the pieces in Simmons Jewelry line feature stainless steel with diamonds. Black diamonds which became popular in the early 1990's have seen a renewed interest from celebrities and fashion enthusiasts alike. First discovered back in 1840 in Brazil, black diamonds are primarily found in Brazil and the Central African Republic. The revived trend for black diamonds has influenced contemporary and urban jewelry designs offering cool, sleek and sophisticated styles for young men.
"We've continuously widened our inventory to meet the demands of consumers by providing the latest trends and designs," stated Ron Yates founder of Titanium-Jewelry.com. "The mens jewelry market is benefitting from the evolution of materials, styles and global influences in designs. As celebrities such as Russell Simmons, Seal and Kanye West expand their musical talents to the world of jewelry designs, the styles and materials used offer a whole new flavor in mens jewelry while shedding light on important global causes," Yates concluded.
Diamond Wedding Jewelry 2009
Fashion keeps getting stranger and stranger. Even wearing purple feathers as hair accessories is common these days (I confess. I own a feather headband or two). But when it comes to jewelry, many women opt for tried and true pieces. Diamond journey necklaces, diamond stud earrings and dainty diamond bracelets are the most common items found in a woman's jewelry box. These classic trends aren't going anywhere either. Tried and true jewelry pieces will continue to be popular throughout 2009.This is because jewelry is a lasting purchase. So when men buy jewelry for women or women buy something for themselves, they don't want it to be a fickle fashion trend. No surprise then that diamond jewelry will continue to be a female's fav this year, but it does not mean there won't be twists. I am the diamond girl after all!
Although the majority of jewelry worn will stay within the classic category, women will also choose to accessorize with bold pieces. Jewelry is a tale of two cities after all. To achieve this bolder look, women will pile on the cuffs and bracelets. Like 2008, 2009 is all about making statements. Dangle-style earrings channel this more intense look and continue to be a top pick. From diamond drop earrings to gold hoops with diamonds, it's impossible to go wrong with a dangle.
Classic pieces will also be given a bolder look in 2009 by layering jewelry pieces together. This applies to everything from cocktail rings to necklaces. For a unique take on a classic diamond pendant necklace, wrap it around your wrist and transform it into a bracelet, for example. It's fashion forward and classic.
The sky is the limit when it comes to jewelry in 2009. Celestial-themed jewelry is a top pick. Stars and moons are infiltrating the jewelry scene, with diamonds popping up here and there amongst the celestial themes. Flower motifs will also continue to be worn this year, especially sprouting up this spring.
Black and white motifs persist in proving people like dichotomy in their designs. Darkened metals paired with diamonds make a bold statement, as do black diamonds paired with white metal. The color scheme ranges in everything from earrings to bracelets. That said, white on white is a hit too. Diamonds always work well with white gold. Cluster gemstones and diamonds also make their way in everything from necklaces to rings, generating a big look with a smaller price tag.
Textured metals are also a key trend as are antique-style pieces. Old or young, everyone likes jewelry that has a history. This trend ranges from overt antique-like (wearing a coin) to subtle antique-like (wearing a grandmother's diamond pendant necklace).
Although trends vary from person to person, it's safe to say that 2009 will stay classy when it comes to jewelry.
A Hint Of Fall....Better Get Ready
Nicolas Ghesquiere and Alber Elbaz may both have bucked the extreme platform shoe trend in favor of the sexy stiletto but in terms of the costume jewelry they sent down the runways at Balenciaga and Lanvin respectively, they occupy polar opposites of the aesthetic spectrum. Chunky cuffs or delicate bangles? Bold pendants or intricate chokers? The choice for fall/winter 2008-09 is a rich but stark one.At Lanvin, Elbaz continues to pursue his experimentation with an unusual and eclectic mix of materials, a trend he introduced several seasons ago with the launch of his tulle-wrapped pearl necklaces. Elbaz is credited (correctly, I think) with having spearheaded a revival of the costume jewelry trend which had not been seen since the 40's and 50's when fashion houses such as Chanel and Dior habitually turned out exquisite costume jewelry collections to complement their apparel. For Fall/Winter 2008-09 he's opted for a bold, chunky mix of geometric shapes that have a definite industrial yet polished feel to them. In contrast, the jewelry at Balenciaga is a sinewy blend of faux stones, strass and pearls that have a vintage appeal reminiscent of 1950's costume jewelry. The delicateness of the pieces were an unexpected but appealing complement to the austerity of Ghesquiere's fashions. Whatever your preference in jewelry, these pieces are a collector's treasure. With this in mind, you would do well to get yourselves on the waiting lists now.

This is going to be a great year!

Warmer weather means GOLD!
Since time immemorial, this lustrous metal has held people in awe and amazement.
Gold jewelry is now crafted keeping changing trends and fashion in mind. You can pick up exquisite pieces like jewelry rings and gold charms and even baby jewelry in various hues and shades. White, rose and pink gold jewelry find many takers. Colored alloys such as nickel, palladium and copper are added to the precious metal to craft intricate patterns in colored gold jewelry. Gold has been a favorite with jewelers on account of its beauty and ease of workmanship. Fashion jewelry is a rage with younger women - hip-hop earrings, beaded jewelry and jewelry set with precious stones.
Body piercing jewelry also finds favor with many. Jewelry is an excellent gift for someone you love. The sparkle in the woman's eyes can only be complemented by diamonds.
Custom designed jewelry items set in diamonds or zircon can be an everlasting symbol of your feelings. Check out jewelry catalogs to find out prices and design options. Designer jewelry appeals to those who wish to buy one-of-a-kind ornaments and gifts such as jewelry watch and antique jewelry. Wedding jewelry is an important segment of the jewelry industry. No bride is complete without being adorned by jewelry.
There are specialty designers who focus on wedding pieces to make your union with your loved one a unique experience.

Old Colors Make A New Stance
Even though we are well into the first decade of the 21st century, fashion seems to continue to take its cues from the past. The past being the recent past, post-World War II. Despite the dearth of items, a multitude of color directions, and no clean vision on what length a necklace ought to be, there was plenty of new ones and direction to be found in the jewelry stands at this year, shows in Basel Switzerland and Las Vegas.Blackened metals of every sort, from steel to sterling silver to gold. Oxidized sterling silver, black rhodium-plated gold, black (and even brown) PVD gold, black titanium, and other black or blackened metals allow larger-sized jewelry and silhouettes to remain large yet less ostentatious than high-polished looks. Necklace in 18k brown gold with citrine and brown gems.
Expect to see lots of texture from hand-hammered to etched. Any kind of texture will dominate precious and base metals.
One of the top raves for the coming seasons is a splash (and more) of black. Black onyx and pearls are hot. Rings with black pearls and pendants decorated with tiny black gems should give you that in look. Why not try some Swarovski black Pearls.
Retro Jewelry, jewelry from the 1940s, is forecasted to be big in 2009. Most retro jewelry was made with inexpensive base metal findings and glass beads. Do some research online by typing in retro jewelry in your browser.
Fall 2008 to winter 2009 will be dominated by rich and vivid saturated colors. Colors and gems like ruby, blue sapphire, and emerald, or use similar colors from Swarovski. Other strong, vivid gemstones, such as tanzanite, and tourmaline should fit right in. Warmercolors, including brown gems and pearls will continue to be popular, just combine them with vivid, saturated color or darkened precious metals.Throw in some dashes of vibrant red, teal, yellow or cosmic blue...purple and coral.
Gray was on the runways this fall, both here and abroad. Grays (from silvery lame looks to deep charcoal) will be around throughout fall and into spring 2009. Gray will be added as a fashion basic like black and white as a fashion basic. Depending upon the hue, gray easily coordinates with any color and metal.

Colors Forecast 2008!
Guest Author - Melanie Spark
By Melanie SparkA trend implies something that is turning in a specific direction, or something that is changing. As the new year approaches, jewelry lovers can expect to see some neutral tones in jewelry. Citrine, grey pearls, lemon quartz and champagne diamonds will be smart picks for those who want to be in with the trends. When it comes to diamonds, one affordable alternative may be champagne or chocolate cubic zirconia, which is recognized as the finest diamond simulant in the world. This popular manmade stone is created to mimic a flawless diamond, which would be a significant investment in the world of jewelry. When recreated in cubic zirconia
Among a handful of remaining popular color choices for the upcoming spring and summer of 2008 are blue, which makes blue topaz and aquamarine a fun way to make a colorful statement in fashion. In addition, hues of purple will lend to the popularity of amethyst while shades of green will add even more value to the already desirable peridot gemstone.
If you're in the market for something hot next summer, any of the above choices will make the season even brighter for you and anyone you may choose to give the gift of jewelry. If you can't quite afford the genuine gemstones, you can find terrific deals in the colors of cubic zirconia.
If, on the other hand, you are someone who buys only what she likes and doesn't cater to current trends, you can still enjoy knowing what's in fashion for the upcoming season. If you already own blue topaz, aquamarine, citrine, pearls or even cubic zirconia featuring the champagne color, you can take great pride in knowing that your choices in jewelry are those that everyone will be searching for this summer. And if you're looking to add more pieces to your collection, there's no better time to find a wide selection of jewelry featuring your favorite colors and gemstones than when they are a part of the upcoming trends.
Trends In Pearls!
One of today's hottest pearl styles is to wear multiple strands of pearls. To take your look from demure to dramatic, layer on the pearls! This sassy secret has worked wonders since the beginning of time. Imagine a cascade of pearl strands swinging over your simple black sheath or sweater set.Mix different pearl sizes and lengths with reckless abandon (though keeping your pearls close in color produces the best effect). Multiple strands of Pearls work for both day and evening. They look best with simple crew or V-necklines, although the adventurous may layer them flirtatiously in an unbuttoned neckline of a blouse or shirt. Pastel colors are in and freshwater pearls are available in natural colors that range from pink to peach to lavender. Multi strand pastel freshwater pearls in multiple colors with a large silver clasp are perfect summer evening wear. A single strand of pink or peach freshwater is fashion dynamite with a hot pink or peach bikini.
Pearl Dangles are Hot!!!
Long, swinging pearl earrings are the number one fashion choice. Sexy pearl chandelier styles are perfect for evening and long, geometric pearl earrings in white and yellow gold have become the look of choice for daytime. Sensuous, shoulder-sweeping pearl earrings create a feeling of glamour like nothing else!
Pearl Bangles are Back!
Arms are on the fashion fast track right now. Pearl bangles and pearl bracelets, big and small have taken center stage.

Men's Jewelry Gets New Outlook!
Jewelry design experts say Men's Jewelry is not just a passing fad. In fact, designers and retailers are devoting more time, attention, and store space to Men's Jewelry than ever before!
Men today are showing a desire to want to show their identity to the world, and they're at ease and confident enough to complement a watch with a bracelet, necklace, or ring. And, now more varied forms of jewelry have become socially acceptable. But what kind of jewelry do modern men want? What catches their eye? What do they think catches the ladies' eyes?
My research has found that old and new styles are merging. Recognizably masculine pieces are being paired with a fresh, feminine twist, and designers are taking advantage of the growing trend of genderless fashions. Soft and lustrous Tahitian Pearls are being incorporated with leather for a sensuous male touch. White gold and rubber is an emerging combination seen in bracelets and necklaces for men.
Cufflinks are more popular than ever. Classic designs in gold, silver or platinum are always a big hit for the conservative businessman. Integrating diamonds, black onyx, malachite, garnets, rubies or sapphires represents a novel departure for the sophisticated man who likes to match accessories with his attire.
And, men don't have to be professional athletes or rock stars to wear earrings these days. Handcrafted designer pieces in silver or platinum can create an elegant blend of contemporary masculinity. A diamond stud is perfect for a night out on the town!
Gothic Jewelry: Dark, Sexy and Mysterious
......you know you've always wanted to try it..... ;-)
Gothic jewelry, or darkside jewelry, as opposed to 'light,' evokes images of the macabre and the preternatural: vampires, the dead and undead, spirits, black magic and the black arts. As such, artisans craft items that would appeal to a person's dark or gothic side. There is an abundance of e-commerce websites and specialty stores whose emphasis is on jewelry and the darkside. In these places, a person will be able to find gothic jewelry such as pentacle pendants, gothic cross necklaces, spider-and-web piercings, and more. Also known as pagan jewelry, gothic body ornaments are made from many types of materials, but they are typically available in gold, sterling silver and pewter. They may come plain or be encrusted with jewels. Many pieces of gothic jewelry have their roots in esoteric sources, such as signs and symbols used in ancient Egyptian lore or those employed in Celtic rituals. Other pieces of gothic jewelry are timeless icons representing the eerie: coffin-shaped rings, heavily ornate cross brooches, earrings shaped like the heads of howling wolves.
Slave bracelets, also known as handflowers or maille bracelets, are also popular examples of gothic jewelry. These look like chain mail, or pieces of woven metal. They are different from conventional bracelets in that they are worn not just on the wrist, but on practically the whole hand, and their intricate patterns are sure to attract attention. Bib and choker necklaces are also popular gothic accessories. Catalogues of gothic jewelry oftentimes include so-called 'poison' rings or bracelets. These items have a small compartment where the wearer can presumably keep very small or fine materials, such as powder. Maille, chandelier or dangling earrings are also available to complete one's overall look of mystery.
Gothic jewelry is easy to wear and can be used to dress up or dress down. They are easily available and the variety offered is endless. Because they depict arcane symbols and figures, gothic jewelry imparts a sense of mystery and secrecy. Popular among both the young and not-so-young, gothic jewelry may be dark, but not dreary; ornate, but not tawdry. In fact, it is just the opposite: jewelry and the darkside - a hauntingly beautiful combination.
HOT!! The Guardian Eye Charm Protects You from The Evil Eye
Today, popular online jewelry merchant Mybargainjewels.com announced the launch of a new line of charm bracelets dubbed "The Guardian Eye."Each bracelet is handmade of Murano glass beads and fits any wrist size. At first glance, these trendy bracelets are simple enough, yet shrouded in thousands of years of superstition. In fact, even today, people across the Middle East, Latin America, North Africa and Asia wear such charms and jewelry to protect themselves from the so-called "curse of the evil eye." According to legend and myth, whenever someone of lesser means casts an envious glance your way, you could be struck with the evil eye curse.
"You might suddenly fall ill or experience an extended stroke of bad luck," says Sossi Reynolds, Founder and President of MyBargainJewels.com. "Worst case scenario: serious bodily injury or even death could result from the evil eye. The curse is nothing to be scoffed at," continues Mrs. Reynolds. There are even books dedicated to it, including titles such as: "The Evil Eye: The Origins and Practices of Superstition" by Frederick Thomas Elworthy; and "Terrors of The Evil Eye Exposed" by Henri Gamache.
But Mrs. Reynolds encountered an intriguing problem in naming her new jewelry line because, technically speaking, "The Evil Eye" could refer to the curse or to the piece of jewelry itself. So, after much consideration, she aptly named her new jewelry line, "The Guardian Eye."
"You see, the bracelet beads have a little eye design on them. This eye is said to deflect the evil eye curse. But naming it the same thing is confusing. That's why The Guardian Eye makes sense. My Guardian Eye Bracelets deflect the evil eye curse."
Whether or not the general public believes in the curse, Sossi assures us that "these bracelets have been around for hundreds of years, maybe even thousands" and they are increasingly popular.
Evil Eye bracelets are available from www.mybargainjewels.com, a site famous for offering quality jewelry at wholesale prices.

April's Birthstone: Diamond!
My birthstone and my favorite!
Diamond, composed of carbon, is the hardest natural substance in the world. Each carbon atom is surrounded by four neighboring carbon atoms in a tetrahedral coordination that is the result of a covalent bond and a face-centered arrangement in the cubic unit cell. Diamond is in the isometric crystal system, which is reflected in the commonly found octahedral or cubic crystal form. The external crystal class is 4/mBar32/m, while the space group designation is F41dBar32/m. Twins are common on the {111} plane. It has perfect four directional cleavage, adamantine luster, and both a high refractive index, 2.42, and specific gravity, 3.52. Color is usually pale yellow to colorless, but can also be brown, blue, green, orange, red, and black.Diamond may be up to 3 billion years old, which is much older than their surface host rock. Diamond crystallization originates some 200 kilometers, or 320 miles, beneath the surface and the disaggregated crystals are merely transported to the surface via kimberlite and lamproite pipes (Harlow, 1998, p. 54). These igneous host rock formations are roughly cylindrical in shape and act as a conduit from the Earth's mantle to the contintental crust.
Diamonds are differentiated between various types, Ia, Ib, IIa, and IIb. Although this information is important to the diamond cutter, it is of no value to the student merely interested in diamond as a gemstone. Diamond's superior optical properties and hardness has earned this mineral the highest respect in both industry and jewelry. It has a long tradition of invincibility and hence the Greek name, adamas.
Amethyst is always a winner!
Online Shopping Is Not A Fad
Online retail sales between Thanksgiving and Christmas, which represents the core of the holiday shopping season, totaled $17.9 billion, a 21 percent increase over the same period of 2006, comScore, Inc. reports. For the entire 2007 holidays season to date (Nov. 1 - Dec. 27), $28 billion has been spent online, a 19-percent gain year-over-year, according to the Reston, Va.-based company, which measures digital data. While it is strong gain, it was far below the 26 percent growth rate recorded in 2006.
"Warm weather during the early part of November took its toll on online retail sales and played a role in holding down the growth in spending over the entire holiday season," said comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni. "However, if we look at the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we see online spending growing at a healthier 21-percent rate, which I think is encouraging given the economic challenges facing consumers this year as a result of higher gas prices, lower home values, and a jittery stock market."
Fulgoni noted that consumers are still shopping online in force after Christmas.
"Even as the holiday shopping season winds down after Christmas, we continue to see some relatively strong online spending days," Fulgoni said. "For example, the day after Christmas saw online sales of $545 million, more than double the sales on the same day last year. This would appear to indicate that consumers were willing and able to take advantage of the attractive late-season promotions and price discounts offered by retailers this year."
ComScore figures exclude travel, auctions, and large corporate purchases.

Celebrities are well known to subscribe to good luck charms.
Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, Sharon Stone, Richard Gere, Madonna, Britney Spears and Demi Moore...It's meant to ward off the "evil eye" from others who would want to stop their success.
Have you just had a new child? Bought a new car? Built a new office building? Worried that your "friends" and others are filled with envy about your good fortune? The bead reflects the evil intent back to the onlooker. It somewhat resembles an eye and it is said the typical blue color is a factor in protecting the user. Glass evil eyes are worn, in the form of evil eye jewelry; gold or silver evil eye pendants, evil eye bracelets, evil eye earrings, evil eye rings, traditional charms, evil eye charms, blue ojo turco amulets, plenty of evil eye ethnic jewelry, greek mati jewelry, good luck charms, hamsa pendants or hamsa bracelets and red string bracelets

Great Lens but I would like to add that a designer jewelry also serves as a medium of expressing emotions to someone and to make a moment special in its own way. People who have a distinct personality love adorning designer jewelry
as it makes them look unique. Today jewelry is very expensive and the reason behind these additional bucks is innovative and original look.
