The Outlander Series: A New York Times Bestseller by Diana Galbaldon
I had never heard of this author and it was a friend who shoved the first four books in my hand saying she thought I'd enjoy them. I was uncertain to begin with but soon I was drawn in and wanting to know what happens next. One of the things I like about reading series books is that the story lasts longer. So often when I'm reading a good book I really hate to come to the end. With this Gabaldon series of 7 books (soon to be 8) you'll have a good long read before that happens.,
I don't consider myself a romance reader but the action and adventure of these books kept me wanting to read the next book as soon as I finished the one I was reading. The sex and violence is a bit graphic, but the story is good and for the most part it gives the reader a happy ever after type ending. The other thing that I enjoy is that you get to follow Jamie and Claire throughout their life not just in their sexy youth. Perhaps that's because I'm middle aged myself.
The Books In The Series In Sequential Order Are:
Outlander
Dragonfly In Amber
Voyager
Drums Of Autumn
The Fiery Cross
A Breath Of Snow And Ashes
An Echo In The Bone
The Outlandish Companion (a compendium of the first four books of the series)

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
The First Book In Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series
Outlander was a New York Time's Best Seller. And I can See why. I couldn't wait to tread about what happens next. It was quite an exciting ride filled with adventure and romance ... and a fair bit of violence.
Dragonfly In Amber
The Second Book In Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series
The book chronicles what has happened in the lives of both herself and her Scottish husband from 200 years in the past. Upon discovering that Jamie (her husband from the past) was not killed at Culloden, Claire is torn between returning to the past to Jamie Fraser, her true love, or remaining in the present with her daughter.
Traveling through the stone circle is harrowing and dangerous and so it's not a decision to be made lightly.
Voyager
The Third Book In Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series
In this book Jamie's nephew Ian is captured and stolen away by pirates and Jamie and Claire embark on a seafaring adventure to get him back. This leads them to the New World followed by old enemies as well as being faced with new ones.
As with all Diana Gabaldon's books there is adventure, magic, mystery and love interwoven in the threads of this story.
Drums Of Autumn
The Fourth Book In Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series

The Fiery Cross
The Fifth Book In Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series
This book was perhaps the slowest in regards to storyline and adventure but was still very enjoyable to read and leads us nicely along to set the stage for Diana Gabaldon's next book A Breath Of Snow And Ashes .
A Breath Of Snow And Ashes
The Sixth Book In Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series
This book once again has all the sex, action and dynamic drama that Galbaldon is famous for.
An Echo In The Bone
The Seventh Book In Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series
The Outlandish Companion
The Quintessential Guide To The FIrst Four Books
The Exile: An Outlander Graphic Novel
The Graphic Novel Of the Outlander Book by Diana Galbaldon
As I mentioned in the intro the sex and violence is rather graphic in these books. Expect it to be translated into picture for you in the graphic novel. Just a heads up.

- I've discovered the Outlander Series some time ago and read every book of it in English. It is not only a romance, a history and a fantasy novel (describing the possibilities of switching between different time periods), but it also shows us a lot about medicine in the 18th century. I simply love the series!
