Catering Mysteries

Diane Mott Davidson is another food author I have come to know and enjoyed reading. She has a total of seventeen books that have been released starting from 1990- the present. I tried to search for a way of contacting this author but there wasn't any. To visit her website follow this link http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/d/diane-mott-davidson/
I hope you give her character Goldie a chance and give it a read.

Catering to Nobody

Goldy is a single mother who uses catering as a way to survive. Her ex-husband, John Korman, is a real jerk. While catering a funeral, Goldy is accused of poisoning her ex-father-in-law. Her business is shut down by the local detective. She feels that it is too much of a coincidence that this poisoning occurs during this funeral. She starts investigating on her own to see if her long time friend really killed herself.

I had a hard time putting this book down. It has an intense story line that really makes you feel for Goldy. She deals with her terrible ex-husband, raising her son, and also the shutting down of her business. It leaves you wondering how she'll make it out of these dilemmas.

Dying for chocolate

Goldy is being harassed by her ex-husband. For the summer, she takes a job working for the Farquhars. Her son Arch is attending prep school and everything seems to be going fine. Goldy is dating a psychologist, named Phillip, who is killed in a car accident. A mystery unfolds in the Farquhar's household and explains the mystery behind Phillip's death.

There was plenty of suspense in this story. I was glued to my seat, unable to stop reading this book. I liked the introduction of the new character Julian. The friendship between Tom and Goldy was another aspect that I enjoyed.

The Cereal Murders

Julian is preparing for finals and Goldy is catering for the students and parents. Goldy discovers the valedictorian Keith Andrews' body. There is also trouble at the prep school Arch is attending. He is being threatened by someone. The head master isn't doing anything to remedy the situation. With all of these problems, Goldy has decided to figure out what's happening on her own.

This book had a lot going on with the competition of the parents. They wanted their children to be better than the other. The relationship between Goldy and Tom takes the next step. I like that the author doesn't prolong this relationship. Goldy doesn't lead on Tom and they don't hide their sexuality. This book also makes figuring out the killer very difficult. It keeps you reading till the end!

The Cereal Murders (Goldy Culinary Mysteries, Book 3)

The Last Suppers

Goldy and Tom Schulz are going to be married. She is waiting for the groom and the priest to arrive, when she receives a phone call that the priest has been murdered. Not only that, the groom has gone missing. Did Tom abandon her, or has he been abducted? Goldy has to find out what's going on behind the church doors to find her fiancee.

I had a hard time reading this book. There wasn't enough suspense and Goldy was acting like a baby. Compared to the other books in this series, this was the worst book. I was bored and I wanted to hear more from the actual abductor and how everything took place, rather than finding those details only at the end. I wouldn't read it again.
