Paying It Forward

Learning to buildĀ better character and showing respect for others is important. We all need to be reminded sometimes to keep ourselves in check on how we treat others. Especially learning the principle of "loving thy neighbor" which in some cases can be very difficult (lol).

Paying It Forward

Diary of a Policewoman

Dealing in public relations as an officer, I think we have gotten ourselves into the habit of being about our own business and neglecting others needs.
What happened to doing good deeds and helping others as a blessing?
Why do we focus on the negative? Why do we rejoice so much in each other's downfall? Displaying jealousy when a coworker gets promoted or good happens to them. What's wrong with a sincere "congratulations?" I've seen people rejoice when bad happens to another person. So eager to spread the bad gossip and tell as many they could about someone's suffering. Why do we recall the bad about someone and forget the good in them? It's like going to a new place to eat. If it was a great meal you might go and tell three or four of your friends, but if the service was bad and the meal lame, you would be tell every person you knew for a week how awful it was. It's sad that this is such a true statement. We are human, not perfect and will make mistakes. Think about a spouse, coworker, friend, or someone that gets on your nerves. Write down ten things you like about them or ways they make you smile. Focus on the list each day. Think about funny stories or fun times you have together. See if it begins to change your outlook at all. Or, while at work you see co-worker getting complained on or in trouble for something. Everyone is talking about them. Don't join in. Either don't say anything or just say something good. God's word says the tongue is like a two-edged sword. We can cut people down and change their whole spirit with the power of a few words. You have no idea the hurt in people they are hiding and things going on in their lives, for you to judge them. This is a struggle for me to remember sometimes to.
What about when you see someone leaving a grocery store and they have their hands full. Try to get the door for them. Wouldn't you be mad if your hands were full and someone let the door shut in your face?
You know the bible says we will reap every single thing we sow. What will you reap? What will you be remembered for if you died today? What would the opinion be of your life or how you lived? Would your pals say you were giving? Or say you made others miserable because you lived selfishly? Let's start paying things forward and be uplifting. Be understanding. Put yourself in their shoes. Yes, we will make dumb decisions and mistakes or bring things on ourselves sometimes. Dust it off! That's what Gods grace is there for!

About CynthiaLee

I am a 33 year old mother of three and have been married to my wonderful husband for 14 years. I grew up in a home where one parent struggled with substance abuse and my sister and I with sexual abuse. My childhood circumstances gave me a determination and drive to change that destructive pattern and course for myself. At age twelve I swore to become a police officer and hoped to be a help to people and children that were struggling with similiar circumstances. I knew God had a wonderful purpose for me and was determined to discover what that was. Since then, I have been a police officer in Law Enforcement for the past seven years. While working as a female police officer, I have witnessed so many tragedies and hurtful things happen in people's lives. Dealing with some of these things has made me learn alot of lessons in my faith that I felt should be shared with other people. God has taught me so much about life and His grace and purpose. I just want to share some of my own personal struggles and circumstances that God has used in my own life that built in me good character, taught me to trust Him more , made me appreciate the small things and has made me a better wife, mother and officer. I want others to understand that they are not alone in their pain or suffering. There is a God and He has given us the promises of His word and He is able! We are not victims, we are VICTORIOUS!!
