Learning to Read With Dick and Jane Books

Dick and Jane books were the "learn to read" tool of choice during my early years. Dick and Jane and their friends have helped an entire generation of people to look, to play, and to see. We all remember Dick, Jane, Sally, Spot, Puff, and Tim. Now, Parents love to share the classic Dick and Jane books with their children.

Most of Dick and Jane's hardcover books are at least 144 pages long. These books are great for the beginning readers, and you'll find that your children won't want to stop reading once they read the first couple of pages because reading makes them feel independent, and grown-up.

Take me back to the first grade. This is great, Dick and Jane books were how I learned to read and my first love for reading. Thanks so much for the memory.

I don't really remember reading these when I was growing up, but I remember seeing them in my teens and my son read them when he was learning to read. They really did help. It's good to recall these memories from times gone by, nicely done.

Wow, I learned to read on these vintage books, a long time ago. We also had the Tip and Mitten readers.

I haven't thought about Dick and Jane for more years than I care to remember. I'm afraid I thought they were boring then and I haven't changed my mind since! thank goodness that by the time I had my son there were just so many fabulous books that it was hard to choose amongst them! Thanks for the memories, Don.

They kind of represent a fond memory for me. When my older brother was in the first grade, he was learning to read and would bring his Sally Dick and Jane books home with him and teach me what he was learning. I was able to read before I went to kindergarten because of that.
