Buttercream Icing Recipe
Thick and creamy buttercream recipe is perfect for decorating
For best results, keep the prepared icing refrigerated when you're not using it. This buttercream recipe can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. When you're ready to use it after keeping it refrigerated, whip again for a few minutes. Makes 3 cups. Thin the icing with light corn syrup for icing cake or use as prepared for decorating.- 1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 4 cups (1 lb.) sifted confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
