Diet for IBS
I'm going to look at a diet for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) sufferers. IBS is a functional bowel disorder characterized by abdominal pain ( quite often severe ) and changes in bowel habits. This syndrome is very common and can prevent people from being involved in social and sporting activities, and causes many work absenses. It is a very uncomfortable, painful and embarrassing thing to have. I know how it feels because I suffered with it myself for several years.
There are a number of diets recommended and this is something which used to help me when I had it. I was given a huge list of things I shouldn't eat and what I should eat. One thing I found that helped tremendously was to go without dairy foods. And, the other was to eat as much green food as I could.
Make a drink for yourself in a blender.
Go to the market and buy every green fruit, salad and vegetable you can find. Things like:
=> parsely,
=> baby spinach,
=> broccoli,
=> zucchini,
=> kiwi fruit,
=> bok choy,
=> avocado
Throw them all in the blender, then add a little fresh pineapple to make it taste sweet. Add a little water if there are too many dry foods in the blender.
Lettuce roll ups are great for work or a picnic. Wrap the lettuce up in some mountain Rye bread or wholebread because that often works better for your tummy than ordinary white bread.
I used to take lettuce rollups to work and one of my fellow workers used to have a good laugh. He would write on my day calendar months ahead - 4 yummy lettuce sandwiches today.
So, if I spent the day drinking and eating all those things above, I had a pretty good day.
A Better way...
However, it wasn't much fun for me making "green" drinks and not being able to eat all the things I wanted to when I went out. And, if I did eat the "wrong" thing when I went out, I usually ended up going out to the car to lay down for half an hour or more.
Another "theory" about IBS, is that your irritable bowel might be "screaming out" for some other nutrients or more of something that your body is not getting. So, a high quality mangosteen juice supplement can alleviate your symptoms.
In my experience, Natural remedies such as supplements sometimes take longer to work than medicines take. However, natural remedies usually last for a long time, sometimes always. So, taking a nutrition supplement can solve the inconvenience and embarrassment (when going out) of having to diet for IBS.
