It is clear that we have an Obesity crisis on our hands and the nations scales are gradually inching up. It is not enough to tell people to eat fewer calories and walk around the block each day.

In order to determine if you are Obese or not, there are 2 primary tools for measurement:

1. Body Mass Index or BMI, which measures weight in proportion to height; and

Average man is 5'9". If he weighs in at 185lbs, his BMI is 27.3-overweight. A healthy weight would be aprox. 156lbs.

What is Waist Circumference?

By measuring a person's abdominal fat is a predictor of risk factors for obesity-related medical conditions. Men who have waist measurement > 40inches and women with measurement >35inches are likely considered overweight, and therefore prone to obesity and obesity-related diseases.

Some of these diseases include cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS), and hypertension just to mention a few.
