WANT TO BE IN SHAPE?

In this lens, I will share with you what my experience has been with diets and what I am doing now. If you are tired of dieting and not getting any results, then this may be for you!

What We Have Tried 

The Older We Get!

When my wife and I were in our twenties, we had some excellent metabolism! We ate whatever we pleased and never gained an ounce. Then along came the thirties and it all changed. We tried a few diets.

After trying the self-will diet and failing, we got a book called the Atkins Revolution and went on the Atkins Diet. I must say, it worked pretty good. There were some drawbacks, though, and we did not stay on it.

I did the Body for Life thing and it worked great, but it requires dedication and working out religiously. And it is geared toward those that want to be buffed. I quit it, too. My wife never was interested in starting that one.

Well, now we are in our fourties and it is harder that ever to stay in shape! But after doing some research, I learned a few things!

Why Most Diets Don't Work 

And Never Will

1. They are not conducive to long term weight loss! They get boring after a while. Who wants to eat grapefruits for every meal? Who wants to eat mostly meat and cheese? We need a variety!
2. They are too complex. Hard to follow. How many carbs am I eating? How many calories does this donut have?
3. They become a second job! This describes my experience with the diets we have tried. It's just too hard to stay on them when you have to work so hard.
4. Some diets are too expensive. I was staying on the one diet pretty good, until I was short on extra money one pay period and I could not buy the drink mixes and nutrition bars I needed to maintain it!
5. Most diets do not have a good goal setting strategy. It's motivating to set a goal and to see it happen.
