Difference Between Desktop and Laptop

Ranked #4,791 in Computers & Electronics, #88,693 overall

Desktop or Laptop?

Are you the kind of person who prefers laptop than desktop? Or the other way around?

I know in choosing a thing that you really like, there are some advantages on it than the other. So I am not saying one is better than the other. It also comes to the taste and comfy it offers to us. So don't force me or someone on what you think better is really better.

I just want to make this page for you to realize what are the differences between them and what they can offer to us.

Desktop came first and laptop is the new form of it. The only major difference is desktop computer is still on its place and can't be brought along in your travel while laptop can. So if you find it interesting to read, don't stop and leave just continue.

Enjoy!

Desktop

Remains on the desk

From the word itself, this type of computer is commonly seen on the surface of the table or desk (computer desk). It is traditionally installed at still location of the house (so you can't carry them in your travel). It has a long lifespan compare to laptop.

In the customization, you can customize its looks and stuff inside of the CPU by choosing the latest parts you want your computer to be built from.

For the hard disk space or storage, this one is upgradeable to have more spaces regardless needing an external storage or not. It's easy to fix whenever you encounter a technical problem like a problem with your motherboard, or be it on the disk storage, disk drive (or everything inside your CPU).

One thing you have to consider is to have more space in your house because it comprises the following hardwares: monitor, CPU, keyboard, mouse, AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator), UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) and if you have extra money, a printer or scanner. They are a little bit expensive because of separate parts to buy so prepare to save if you plan to have a desktop in your home.

Laptop

Remains on the lap but don't overdo it!

I don't know why they called it laptop. Maybe because unlike desktop, laptop can be placed on your lap while using it. But the problem is since we all know that all gadgets need electricity or power in order to function, the underneath of it becomes warmer the longer you use it (heat). That heat can slightly burn your skin if you do it always. That's where the laptop cooler comes in.

Anyway, since laptop becomes the new form of desktop, almost everything you see on the latter you can find in the former. From the monitor, disk storage, disk drive, keyboard, equivalent of mouse, and others. Laptop has all of it.

I noticed that all of the updated version of one thing turns into a small one. Imagine this desktop.. It is huge and requires more spaces in your home just to be set up. And then laptop came, and everything you used to worry about disappear in an instant. Less space, same experience.

The good thing or I can say the best thing about having laptop is you can bring it everywhere esp. if you are the type of needing it most of the time. It's weird to bring your computer at home to whatever place you might be going and then set it up there. And that's where the laptop comes in. To make our lives stress free and manageable.
