Do You Like Earrings?

I do. But I don't own a lot of them due to my own clumsiness that I keep losing them. Most of my collections now are singles and I have about twenty different styles including the ones in pairs. Besides, my ears can get sensitive to certain metals. I usually have no choice but to stick with the ones made with at least 10KT gold or nickel free alternatives.

There seems to be no statistics collected about how many pairs of earrings on average a woman has. For shoes is nineteen pairs and handbags is seven. And since earrings won't occupy as much space, almost never go out of styles and can be bought a lot cheaper if you are not into the expensive precious stones, I would assume that the number of collections for women is much higher.

Cubic Zirconia Earrings

Cubic zirconia is a synthesized material made from crystalline form of zirconium dioxide. According to Wikipedia, "because of its low cost, durability, and close visual likeness to diamond, synthetic cubic zirconia has remained the most gemologically and economically important competitor for diamonds since commercial production began in 1976. Its main competitor as a synthetic gemstone is the more recently cultivated material, synthetic moissanite."

I love cubic zirconia earrings because they come in so many different styles, colors and price tags. For the most part, I like their shine and cut that mimic that of the diamond counterparts but you can easily get them for a lot cheaper.

There is nothing more versatile than having a simple pair of cubic zirconia earrings like the ones featured here. They are the perfect accessories for any occasions. Suitable to dress up or down. They are equivalent to the little black dress in your closet.

Nickel Free Earrings

One of the most common materials that can be found in earrings is nickel. Because it is cheap, sturdy, durable and able to hold colors well, nickel is usually added into other metals in the making of jewelery. Unfortunately, nickel also shown to be the culprit causing a lot of the skin allergies and sensitivities. Chronic skin itchiness, rash and raised bumps are commonly reported by people who wear nickel containing jewelry. As much as 50% of people who have pierced ears have allergic reaction to nickel jewelry earrings. Some have minor symptoms while others experienced serious side effects such as watery blisters or even seizures.

It is advisable to consult a doctor before you decide on whether you are truly allergic to nickel or nickel only as there are other metals such as gold, silver, lead and titanium that may trigger a reaction too.
