Laughter

we've heard it many times before that laughter is the best medicine. but what we might forget to consider is that laughter takes on many different forms. different people laugh in different ways but most of the time we will be able to detect a genuine "from the heart" laugh, a "i cannot control it" laugh, a "i must suppress it inside me because it is inappropriate to laugh now" laugh, a nervous "please get me out of this situation" laugh, a "haha my boss has just cracked a lousy joke and i have to look as if i am enjoying his jokes" laugh, a "haha nice try but you FAIL" laugh, a "oh boy that must have hurt" laugh, a "boy am i uncomfortable about this situation" laugh, a "i am resigned to my fate" laugh, a "oh you think i can't do this? i'll prove you wrong" laugh, a "LOL" laugh, a "ROFL" laugh, or even a "ROFLSHCGU" laugh (that stands for Rolling On the Floor Laughing So Hard, Can't Get Up").

laughing is a amazing expression. it can convey anything from true joy to uneasiness. but it takes a person who is well versed and assimilated in the culture to understand the real meaning behind each laugh. laughter is one of the distinctives of our culture that we might take for granted. it not only defines us (recall a weird uncle who has a weird laugh, or a friend who always laughs 3 days after a joke is shared), it has many health benefits too!

i hope this lens will be able to share a few laughs with everyone, may each of you be blessed. =)

    It really feels good to laugh, the laughing exercise is great! I remember an office mate before who has a contagious laughter. We missed him after he was transferred to another branch. Thanks for sharing. =)
