The Different Types of Lawn Mowers

What Should You Consider When Buying a Lawn Mower?
There are numerous specific categories of lawn mowers.
Once you begin considering buying a new lawn mower you will most probably look for some lawn mower reviews and quickly notice that you will have many choices available to you as well as the actual type of lawn mower (such as cost, size, etc). That said, it is fair to say that the type of lawn mower you are thinking about buying is the primary factor involved. Cost, size, and anything else will become irrelevant if you start looking into commercial zero-turn mowers if you just have a 20ft lawn.
It's very important to have a brief analysis of the various sorts of lawn mowers and lawn tractors before you decide to start waving through reviews, in order to be aware of the fundamental facts surrounding them, such as whether the lawn mower you're looking to buy uses a horizontal axis (known as a cylinder, or reel mower) or vertical axis (known as a rotary mower). Below are my different types of lawn mower reviews.

The 4 Main Types of Lawn Mowers
Reel/cylinder mowers (horizontal axis) - Reel/cylinder lawn mowers may be human-powered, but often they are joined together along with an internal combustion engine.
The best selling commercial walk behind mowers (a lawn mower you push); the horizontal lawn mower blade axis can make reel/cylinder mowers a good all-rounder. They will represent little use on commercial lawns, however, for a little house lawn they are ideal.
Rotary mowers (vertical axis) - Vertical rotary blades are very effective, and due to this fact more often than not they should be powered by an interior combustion engine. That said, electric rotary mowers have become ever more common.
The key down side to rotary mowers is owing to the vertical axis they don't gather the grass cuttings. You may have to let it lay or you might need to bag the cuttings which keeps the newly cut lawn looking neat.
Just like reel/cylinder mowers, these would be of minimal use on commercial lawns, but for a manageable home lawn they are great.
Hover mowers - Hover mowers are driven rotary push lawn mowers which use a turbine engine over the spinning blades to force air down in order to produce an air cushion, lifting the mower over the ground.
Hover mowers are pretty decent for big commercial lawns, parks and fields, and even for tall grass areas. They've been also equipped to cut stuff like shrubs thanks to their power to hover.
Ride-on mowers (also called riding mowers, or lawn tractors) - These are generally favoured for major commercial lawns, school fields and parks. Those working with the mower can sit down atop it, operating the mower and literally riding it.
Many riding mowers utilize the horizontal (reel) rotating blade system, accompanied by a large number of blades.
