All About Different Types of Cats
This lens is about all different types of cats. This lens will show and talk about different types of cats, both common and unusual. All cats are typically predatory carnivorous animals who are capable of using meows and other vocalizations to show their owners what they want. The cats in this lens will include, but are not limited to: Russian Blue, Tabby, Siamese, Bi-color, Short Hair and White Persian.

The Russian Blue

The Russian Blue is a breed of cat with a silvery blue coat ( my first cat was a Russian blue.) They are considered to be highly intelligent and playful cats who are timid around unfamiliar people. They make good companions, and are thought to be less prone to causing allergies, making them popular pets.
They are unique cats with great personalities. Both the American and European versions of this cat tend to have thicker fur and bodies.

The Tabby

The tabby cat has a definite pattern to it's fur. This patterns is usually stripes, swirls or dots. This pattern of cat coat goes back to the cat's wildcat ancestors. This pattern shows up in many breeds of cats, making tabby not an actual breed in itself. These cats also have a typical "M" mark on their forehead. Pictured is my domestic short hair tabby, Whiskers
The bi-color cat

A bicolor cat has white fur combined with fur of some other color. This can be either black or tabby, but may be something else. There can be many different patterns of bicolor cat, including a pattern where there is color on the crown of the head and the tail only. Also you can have a cat with through to solid color with a different color in the throat area. A tuxedo pattern (looks like the cats wearing one) is also one of many possible bicolor patterns.
Domestic Short Hair/American Short Hair

A domestic shorthaired cat (DSH) is a cat term used to describe a shorthaired cat that either does not have a pedigree or does not belong to a particular recognizable cat breed. The domestic shorthair is sometimes confused with the American Shorthair, which is actually a particular breed of cat.
Domestic shorthaired cats are characterized by a wide range of coloring and typically 'express their coats as a tabby. This can be any color or combination of colors.
The American shorthair is thought to be the most popular of cat breeds, and is probably a descendant of British shorthairs brought over from England. An American shorthair is considered a pedigree cat.

Persians

Persians are the oldest breed of cat. These cat can be pedigreed or not. If they are not a pedigree than they are called domestic longhairs. These cats are quiet, and make good companions and come in many different colors. They tend to make good show cats.
Pictured here is the White Persian.
