So What Is the Importance of Plant Enzymes and Digestive Supplements?
Our diets are severely enzyme deficient. Eating cooked, processed, or heated foods could be prematurely depleting your body of enzymes - its very life force. Even carbonated drinks are more detrimental than they need to be. Making small shifts in your diet and taking an oral enzyme supplement can prove to have more dramatic effects on your health than almost any other decision you could make.
Since I began learning more about my own health, I've become a huge advocate for what a good blend of plant enzymes can do. I've had the pleasure of learning from one of the industry's top professionals, Ronald K. Schneider, about just exactly how the body works, and why certain supplements are better than others. Here's how he broke it down for me:
"Most health products focus on giving the body the materials it needs. We need water, vitamins, and ionic minerals. But we also need to give the body's workforce- the immune system and metabolic enzymes (the body's repair force) - back it's power and ability to function more effectively. Taking digestive enzymes will help the body develop a stronger disease-fighting capability and increase the body's ability to mend and heal itself. Digestive enzymes are the only health product on the market that can improve the drains occuring in the body."
That's a huge statement, with huge implications! Lets explore that further, and I'll show you which enzymes I've chosen and why.
Watch Oatmeal Digest In a Glass...
...and find out just how other enzymes compare!
You can use this test on your current enzymes as well to see how they perform!
We have to replenish our enzyme supply!
40% of adults take a daily vitamin or supplement
Still 75% or more of Americans will suffer from some sort of degenerative disease
One of the main pioneers in enzyme research was a gentleman by the name of Dr. Edward Howell. He spent over 50 years in the field, and has become a leading authority in food and enzyme theory. His research revealed that most physical problems and disease can be traced to improperly digested and not-fully digested food - due to the lack of enzymes in the food. As he put it:
"If we don't replenish or conserve our enzyme supply, we run the risk of ill health"
There are only 3 things we can do to conserve or replenish our enzyme supply:
- Eat all raw foods
- Take digestive enzymes every time we eat
- Take digestive enzymes on an empty stomach (a little secret Ron Schneider strongly suggests for a number of added benefits having to do with detoxifying the blood)
Enzymes are literally the "life-force" of the human body and all life. "When the enzyme supplies run very, very low in the human body, we die"
The Most Important Thing:
Awesome Medical Facts:
(thanks Ron for pointing these out)
- Medical Fact: If your immune system was not impaired you would never catch colds, flus, tumors, cancers, or diseases and health disorders
- Medical Fact: A fully active and functional immune system will protect you from colds, flus, viral infections, and other more serious physical ailments and diseases
- Medical Fact: Your body has the capability (through protection and regeneration) to repair any damage that happens to it or it's cells
- Medical Fact: Many of the physical problems that are acquired could be healed and the occasional problems would be repaired by the proper functioning of our immune system
- Medical Fact: We are causing virtually all of our own disorders and diseases every time we eat cooked or processed food! When we eat that way (and who doesn't?) we're eating "dead and denatured" food. There are no living enzymes to enable digestion and most nutrients are diminished significantly!
Fascinating:
The Problem with Most Enzyme Products...
(I say most because of the amount of competing low-end supplements, not as many with the higher-end enzymes that I've found)
The research and benefits of enzymes are all fine and great, but you'll never experience them if you don't get the good stuff! So, test out your options- grab a couple choices from the health-food store and use the Oatmeal Test (like in the video above). That's a great start. If you like what you see with the oatmeal, research deeper into the product and find ones that have a proven track record of actual results with people.
Of all the digestive enzymes produced, here are the best I've found:

- Everything of the body depends on digestion- and the benefits of great digestive enzymes is right. But do we really need to take supplements? We can improve our digestive system by doing some workout for about 3ominutes a day.

- Thanks for the comment Sameer,
I agree that exercise is crucial for better health, and perhaps if you wear yourself out when working out your body is going to work harder to replenish the needed nutrients, but exercise alone wouldn't have as direct effect on digestion as a strong supplement. Again, digestion can not happen apart from enzymes, and the idea of a digestive supplement is to replenish the enzymes of cooked or processed food, as well as up the digestive breakdown of raw foods. Thats literally what enables your body to utilize the nutrients you ingest after working out or on a regular basis.
