Make a Website with Wordpress

It's easy to make a webpage using Wordpress. My life as a teacher got a lot easier this year when I started putting all of my assignments on a website. Each day the kids log on, check the assignment, and then get to work. In years past I listed the assignment on the board and hoped that the students could read it or that another teacher didn't erase them while I was not in the room. I teach HTML and Dreamweaver CS5 but managing a website that is updated daily is much easier and practical using Wordpress. Keep reading for more info on how I did it. You can also check out this easy to use book that helped me: Click Here!

Teachers visit my class website and give me feedback

Screen shot of my websiteWordpress is a free blogging program you can download at http://wordpress.org or check out my post below about Hosting where you can install it with a click of a button. There are many free themes and plugins available for you to customize your site to make it unique. Notice I customized mine with the Austin High maroon and white. I also made a custom banner displaying our baseball Mr. Maroo on the top right. Any teachers who are interested in learning how to make their own Wordpress site can shoot me an email and I'll try to help.

Great way to use Wordpress in your teaching! I have recently started using wordpress to have my own blog. Some of my friends have been using Wordpress hosting ( http://instantappz.com/wordpress.php) for their blogs and seems to have a good experience with it. Great that your students too have a wonderful blog of their own!

Nice lens. I have a Wordpress account and still use it everyday! I wonder what Wordpress would be like if someone upgraded it in every way possible.

Thanks Marc. I think they would spend their entire day upgrading :) There are so many plugins now I can't imagine anyone could use them all.
