My view of digital camera binoculars

Some help if youre looking for digital camera binoculars

With the introduction of the digital camera, it wasn't going to be long before this technology found it's way into other optical based products - in particular the digital binoculars. To cut a long story short, those clever engineers have created the integrated digital camera binoculars.

It's one of those inventions where you get the best of both worlds - you still have your high quality binoculars, with all the features and benefits they have to offer, but you now also have a digital camera built in, which is usually located between the two lenses, or shafts.

Depending on the type of camera you opt for - high resolution, high mega pixels etc - will determine how bulky of compact the end result is, and whether or not you'll need a stand of some form for longer viewing/watching periods.

Generally, the camera shares the same magnifying capacity as the binocular, so when you see something you wish to capture forever, the camera will be ready focused so all you need to do is "release the shutter" - or more appropriately, click the button.

All in all, digital camera binoculars are a great innovation - not simply using technology "because it is there".

Measuring binocular magnification using a digital camera

This is my first video dubbed with audio. In this little experiment I am using my Sony DSC P72 Digital camera in 640 VGA MPEG video mode to capture scenes of a tractor tire with and without the aid of my Leupold 7x Binoculars. Once the video was captured I extracted one frame of the unmagnified tractor tire and one frame of the magnified tractor tire. I pasted each snapshot into visio alongside a calibrated ruler. It looks like these Leupold Binocs really are 7 power.
