A Review of Kids Digital Cameras

Did you ever want a camera for a birthday or Christmas present when you were a child? I did. When I was eleven years old, Santa brought me an InstaMatic 126 Kodak, and I was ecstatic! It was wonderful until I ran out of film, and had to use my allowance to have the film developed! Today's kids won't have that problem. With a digital camera made just for little hands, they can take all the photos they want to take. Mom and dad only have to have a ready supply of batteries, which is not that much of a problem if you purchase rechargeable batteries.

When I was a kid, I took photos of my grandparents, my parents, my sister and brother and lots of cousins and other relatives. I also took pictures at camp, on vacations, and on special occasions, such as birthdays and anniversaries. I still have those photos and enjoy spending time with grandchildren to show them what their greatgrandparents looked like when I was a child. I have photos of everyday occurences, like my dad riding a motorscooter, that I would not trade the world for.

What kind of photographic memories would your child have if he or she were to have a digital camera-a camera where film is no issue?

LEGO Digital Camera Review

type=textWow! A real digital camera with the look and fun of LEGO bricks. While it looks like it was build from LEGO bricks, the camera cannot be taken apart--however, it can have blocks added to the top and bottom so kids can add it to their engineering block creations This is a 3 MP camera with a 1.5" LCD screen. The specifications state that the camera will hold up to 80 photos, but some users have reported the camera can hold over 200 photos. The battery is rechargeble via USB cable, eliminating the usual expense associated with digital cameras. With a build-in flash for indoor use, and a fixed focus and digital zoom, kids will only be limited by their imaginations!

The main complaint most reviews have is that the flash is so bright. As with other toy cameras, the images this camera takes will not be on par with a Kodak or Canon, but for a child, this is a good first camera.

Vtech Digital Camera Review

type=textVtech KidiZoom cameras offer the advantage of taking photos and photo editing all in one. Kids can take, edit, view and save their favorite photos, then use a USB cable to content the camera to your home computer to download and print their favorites.

Most reviews mention how durable the Vtech cameras are--a must for kiddos who may drop the camera or bang it against furniture. While the Vtech cameras are toy cameras, they do work. Do they have the image quality of a Canon or a Kodak? No, but then again, these are toys for small children. Older children and teens would be better served with a Kodak Easy Share camera.

I don't have children but your Lens caught my attention. I read above that you suggest a Kodak EasyShare camera for older children. I started to laugh because three years ago my mother bought me my first digital camera and it is a Kodak EasyShare. I still have it and just used it over the weekend. I love it. The camera also takes videos and love the fact that I can upload those videos to my computer then upload them to YouTube. I take out the little disc, slide into my computer and start uploading pictures and videos to my iMovie on my MAC. Good Lens and I guess I'm an older kid.

genglo says:

Our daughter got the best photos when she was little. People assumed her camera was a toy and she ended up with the most natural shots from relaxed people. Everyone was shocked to see the results.

GrammaLinda says:

Kids love to take pictures of the people and things that mean the most to them!

Feed it to the dog, if the dog will eat it.

Who knows? Maybe both!

Kid Tough Digital Camera from Fisher-Price

Fisher-Price Digital Camera Review

Kids Love Cameras!Fisher-Price has long been a leader for kids toys, and that includes the digital camera toys. You child will want to take the camera everywhere and take pictures of everything--pets, friends, playgrounds, family--everything! Most Fisher-Price digital cameras have a 1.5" color LCD preview screen that allows kids to instantly see the pictures they have taken. With a built-in auto flash, the cameras store about 500 pictures. With kid friendly controls and a two-eye viewer that makes it easy for kids to look through the viewer, Fisher-Price digital cameras are easy to use.

The complaint mentioned most often by reviewers is that the pictures are grainy. Again, this is a toy. When my children were small, toy cameras did not take pictures at all. Instead, they had pictures built inside them for kids to look at through the view finder. They would have been ecstatic for a working camera. Most small children will not be expecting high quality photos, and will be happy with this camara. For older children, perhaps a toy is not the best camera.

When I was a kid I had a Kodak Instamatic camera and I loved to take pictures when mom could afford the film and developing which was not often enough. It could cost $8 per 36 exposure roll and $10 to $20 to develop it and that was a lot of money back then! Kids today are lucky to have cameras especially for them and cheap memory space. Awesome lens!
