DLGuard: A Digital Download Protection Review
There are many digital download protection devices on the market to assist online entrepreneurs with safeguarding their non-tangible info products. But one that gets a lot of press and word of mouth in this industry is called DLGuard (Download Guard). This page will review DLGuard so that you can see what shields your digital downloads from thieves.
DLGuard is a creation developed by Sam Stephens. I'm the kind of person who always wants to know the reputation of the product owner before I fork over any money, so let's talk about Sam first and then move on to what he's created. First let me pass along what I personally know.
I was angry beyond belief when I discovered my download page was posted in a forum and my product had been illegally downloaded dozens of times. So I bought DLGuard for my sites and have been using it for years now. It's never failed me. But being the technically-challeneged idiot that I am, I had some questions about my digital download protection software. I emailed Sam. Sometimes I Tweeted him on Twitter. He always personally replied to me, taking time to hold my hand and explain whatever I was confused about.
Now let's move on to the product itself.
Why You Need Digital Download Protection Software
So there I was all proud of my accomplishment - I had my own info product online! A bona fide work at homer. And my spirits were crushed to find out some thief (let's call it like it is) posted my download page on a forum for everyone to see. They may as well have walked into my home and robbed me at gunpoint because that's what they did - steal from me and from my family.Once I had DLGuard in place as my digital download protection device, it stopped them cold. Now, whenever one person buys, they get a timed expiration hyperlink - so they only have a window of opportunity to grab the product.
Does this fully stop a thief? No - if they have their own website, they can upload the file on their server - but then I can have their entire site shut down (and I have - twice). But this deters criminals - kind of like how an alarm and a sign outside your home stating "this home protected by...(Smith and Wesson?)" makes a burglar think twice about breaking into your home.
So what DLGuard does is it gives the buyer an expiring download link, but it ALSO allows you to limit the number of download attempts. So let's say you're generous like me and give people 24 hours to download the product. You won't have to give them 24 hours and unlimited download attempts (all the thieves would do then is tell everyone on a forum they have 24 hours to download, right?). Instead, you can limit it to something like 3 download attempts. That way if they're having trouble downloading, they can simply email you and get help.

So How Do You Create Expiring Download Links Using DLGuard?
"It's so easy even Tiffany Dow can do it" - that's what Sam Stephens' motto for this product ought to be. Let's say I want to add a new product to my PLR Mini Mart site. I don't want everyone to have a copy - just the buyer. So here are the steps I take to create expiring download links using DLGuard after logging in:1.) Click the Add new product link in the upper left side of the page
2.) Fill in the product details, including the name, URL of the file, *Hours to Download* (this is where the expiring download links comes into play), type of product (ie: PayPal, ClickBank, etc)...and whatever other information it requires once you choose the type of product (such as your PayPal email address and cost of the product). Save this information.
3.) Click the Shopping Cart link at the top and scroll down to your new product. Click the Add link next to that product so that you can place it in a category and give it a price and product description.
That's all there is to it - your product is safe and sound in the hands of DLGuard, warding off would-be thieves so you don't lose out on a ton of money.
