Digital Printing and Its Importance to Small Business

Communication is a requirement in today's busy world of fast decision-making and business solutions. With technology evolving and growing, advancements in business solutions occur on a daily basis. However, despite these very advancements that are propelling us into the future of tech and gadgetry, simple forms of communication are still required - print.

Print media is dying. Lets face the facts and eliminate the fluff. Print media is transferring over to the digital domain of the internet. This worldwide web that was so foreign years ago now has become the primary source of all information, as evident by comparing today's print revenue to its revenue a couple of decades ago. The newspaper is flat out old.

Will print media ever disappear completely? No. In the end, we can't simply throw all of our "eggs into one basket", right? Print has begun to become a tertiary source of information alongside television, radio and people yelling out their window to their neighbor. Given this theory, businesses are still heavily reliant upon print sources. The reason, accountability. Websites can be hacked, e-mails can be deleted, but print can be secured and filed away.

So why the huge introduction for a subject such as Digital Printing St. Louis? The point of all of this is that print is still a huge part of our world. Businesses rely on it, and this reason alone is why high quality digital printing can mean the difference between accountability and distrust within the world of business.

Printing News

Whether you're the manager of a printing company in St. Louis or a radio operator in World War II, you need managerial skills!

According to an article written by Mark Vruno in this month's edition of Printing News, there are 6 key factors that managers must employ in order to not only be successful on an individual level but also on a teamwork level.

  • Give praise when someone does a good job

  • Do not reprimand or admonish someone in the public arena

  • Keep a written record of each employee. Document and Date conversations regarding performance - good and/or bad

  • Be open and truthful to all of your employees

  • Stand behind those who you believe in. Loyalty is key to success

  • Don't show favoritism to any employees but be a friend.

These points of advice were handed down to Mark from his father, Joe (a radio operator in World War II). And as the article comes to a close, Mark makes two final remarks, "Joe Vruno's final two tidbits of workplace advice to me: a)the ever cliche', yet true, 'Lead by example,'... and b) 'Find out whom you can trust - and whom you can't.'"

When reading this article, I find it interesting how business has evolved. Back in the day, it was suit and tie. Nowadays, it's "business casual" attire. Back in the day, there was an ethical code to business and that has long since changed. Today, our new employees in the workforce are constantly texting away on their phone or crawling Facebook for pictures of last weekend. What happened, what went wrong? Has anything gone wrong? Have our standards of conduct changed dramatically over the past 50 years? You betcha and the only way we can adapt is to stay true to our roots by employing proclamations like those endorsed by Mark and Joe Vruno.

Digital printing allows for on demand printing, short turn around, and even a modification of the image with each impression. The savings in labor and ever increasing capability of digital presses means digital printing is reaching a point where it will match or supersede offset printing technology's ability to produce larger print runs at a low price. Thats why Digital Printing St. Louis? companies need to make sure all of their equipment is up to date, and that the employees are informed of all of the changes.

I can't believe the positive customer service I have seen from the print shop in St. Louis.

Lately my company has been looking for a good print shop in St Louis, there are many choices out there. I believe that after some searching and asking around that we went with the correct printing company. There hasn't been a job that they couldn't handle. It really doesn't matter if it's a tiny job or a job with a huge amount of copies. I have had huge printing jobs done within twenty four hours and everything with the job was correct. I really have faith in their ability to continue their good service and keep things running smoothly when it comes to our printing needs here in Saint Louis.

My business was also searching for a mail house in St. Louis that could take care of our many mailing and shipping needs after we had our products printed up. Of course with the great service that I already spoke about, this place functions as a full service St. Louis bulk mail center as well. In the world of the Internet and social media, I wanted to share my find with my friends and other St. Louis residence who might not know that we have such a great printing company right under our nose.

I believe our last order was for over fifteen or twenty thousand copies of a special that we needed sent out last minute. I felt bad about going there at the last minute with such a big order, but they said no problem. Basically they said it's their job and they get it done. Not only did they print my materials I asked for, but they were also able to mail them out the next day in time to get them out for that day's mail. Disaster averted, now I have a story to share on the internet and with my friends about a great printing company.

Needless to say as a resident of the city of St. Louis for most of my life and I definitely consider it home, we need more businesses like this in our community. From my experience for other printing companies at least, they always ask for too much time, don't complete the project and charge too much money. Again I like it when I pay for a service and get exactly what I was promised, which is why I share these experiences. Mainly because it just doesn't happen that often these days.

Printing Question of the Week

Do we still need retail locations?

The world wide web. Remember when it first came to being? Simple html pages were littered with text that resembled plain word documents. Now, look at what the internet has become! Webpages are visually stunning pieces of literature, advertising and art - all in one package. Take for instance this site, printing St. Louis. And then, compare it to this site, printing San Diego. What do you notice? Different colors, different styles and different information present each company's style. The internet has become the avenue for which all companies can showcase themselves for everyone to see! Literally, everyone! No longer do people need to read a newspaper and actually visit a company on the corner of XY street. Rather, people simply google "printing St. Louis", and they will get a wide array of companies that range from Kopytek to Midtown Printing. From there, they can simply visit any company's place of business without ever leaving their seat! Makes you wonder...will businesses eventually lose the need for actual retail locations?

The Importance of Digital Printing

Printing materials can move you forward, it brings you into the future and allows you to express yourself. Of course the quality is important. But it's not just about what comes off the press. Other than quality, time is very important to many people, because the world moves fast enough to leave you behind if you don't move with it. With a combination of quality and time, price is key. So finding a place that offers all three of these may be hard to find.

There are various projects that call for brochures, sales materials, direct mail, catalogs, invitations, annual reports, or anything in between. No matter what the project is, digital printing is the answer. Because it keeps you ahead of the curve.

Digital Printing: Why Local Companies Are Your Best Choice

For at least the past ten years, we've been hearing about the fall of the local businesses. The family owned and operated, "firm handshake and a smile" kind of places that always remember your name were slowly becoming obsolete. There were losing the battle to big box stores- giant, sterile, emotionless places that offered lower prices, greater convenience, and a loss of all the intangibles we once held so dear. When it comes to printing, copying, and office supply businesses, the story was much the same. Small businesses simply could not compete on pricing and have lost ground the mega-conglomerates that now dominate the field (as anyone familiar with the NBC show The Office can surely relate).

Though some were forced to fold, the remaining independent printing companies have fought hard to compete and combine cutting-edge, innovative, and cost-effective methods that 'old-world' feel the giant stores just cannot replicate. They understand the urgency and quality your business needs and will go that extra mile to ensure you get exactly what you want, all the time. Next time you go into a store the size of three football fields to pick up your printing and copying orders- see if they shake your hand, look you in the eye, and ask about your company. Then give a local printing company and try and observe the same.. I think after that, your decision will be quite simple.

Why Digital Printing is the Best!

Digital printing is a non-contact method to print colors on various materials of substrate decoration. Digital printing produces images, colors and patterns by using computer controlled ink jet nozzles.

Color and Digital Printing

The use of color when it comes to digital printing now-a-days is expected. You don't see much black and white anymore. Color intrigues people and draws their eye to look at the picture or text you create. There are different items when it comes to color. The color gamut refers to the range of colors that can be viewed, displayed or printed. Digital Printing equipment is able to reproduce a greater range of color than traditional offset technology.

When it comes to defining color, there are three different properties that are used in digital printing. Hue is the name of the color (red, orange, blue). Value is the darkness and lightness in the color. Saturation describes the intensity of the color. A combination of these three items is what makes digital printing and allows us to see the different colors, shades, and intensity of colors produced.
