Digital Art at Moon Dance Design
Although digital art has been around for a long time (they were using the computer in the 60's to make designs), it has really taken off with the turn of the century. That is why I call digital art the wave of the future. Let's not forget that photography started during the last century and look how far it has come. It was the wave of the future in the 20th century and Digital Art is the wave of the future in the 21st Century.
Digital Art is created using the computer as a medium for art and design. As a paintbrush is used to create paintings, the computer is used by the artist to create pixel canvases. Many software programs assist the artist. These may include Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Bryce, Maya, Apophysis or Ultrafractal. The software programs are almost endless and form the myriad of tools in the digital artist's studio.
Using different forms of input, a digital artist creates unique works. Often the artist will use photography and digitally manipulate the image to create what they want. Some artists will draw directly into the computer using a stylus and a digital drawing pad. Others will use software like Bryce, Poser or Maya to create their own worlds filled with images limited only by the artist's imagination. Many artists will use a combination of all of these programs and techniques to achieve their final creation.
I use several different approaches to achieve my digital works. Many, though, are based on photographs that I have taken. I manipulate these images using software programs, usually Photoshop. When not using photographs and photoshop, I like to work with fractals. Another passion of mine.
No matter how it is created, digital art is the wave of the future and sure to awe inspire everyone. A piece of digital artwork is always a conversation starter.

About Moon Dance Design Prints
The printing of my work is of great importance to me. I take the time to print all my work myself, thus I am able to control the whole process and maintain quality. I use an Epson 4000 printer equipped with Ultrachrome inks. These inks have a longevity rating of 100 years or more before any fading may occur.
Ultrachrome ink is a pigmented ink. Most inkjet printers use dye based inks and do not stand the test of time. Ultrachrome ink will produce the colors you see here and those colors will not fade for over 100 years. (Colors you see do depend on monitors, not all of them show colors the same way. There may be slight variation between what you see on your monitor and what the print actually looks like.)
All work is available printed on Canvas or Luster Paper. Canvas is not paper but actual artist's canvas treated to accept the ultrachrome Ink. Canvas gives a soft, artistic texture to the print. Luster paper is a nice heavy weight paper which has a soft glow to it. It is not glossy, but neither is it matte...it has a soft sheen that shows off the ink beautifully.
Shipping is by USPS Priority Mail. All prints are shipped rolled (large, gentle roll) in a round heavy duty cardboard tube. Insurance is extra and recommended.
Digital Art is truly the wave of the future. Now is your chance to ride that wave!

So, What about Fractals at Moon Dance Design?
Fractals are wonderous, exciting designs that embody the purest form of digital art. They cannot exist without the assistance of a computer and they happen only in the computer. They are purely digital.Fractals are the beauty of design that is never ending.
Fractals are a mathematical formula rendered in the computer to form a design with color. The computer makes thousands of computations to arrive at a final design. The computer is not alone in this. The artist must decide on which formulas and layers them so that they interact and finally adds color to achieve the design.
Fractals are characterized by their repetitious pattern which seems to go on forever. This sort of repetition and descending pattern can be found in nature. Just look closely at a Fern and see how the parts of a fern repeat the design of the fern as a whole.. . .a fractal! See if you can find more fractals in nature.
Most of my fractal designs are created using the Ultrafractal program or the Apophysis program. Recently my fractals have all been created using Apophysis and post work done in Photoshop.
Use www.moondancedesign.com to visit Moon Dance Design and view more fascinating fractals.
Ah, more Fractals!
Not just Spirals anymore
This group will show the diversity of fractals, although, not all of these are available at Moon Dance Design they may be special ordered. There will be more fractals to come
