This may sound silly, but one of the most important digital camera tips and tricks I can share with you is to learn your camera, really play with it and all of the settings that it has to offer. Most digital cameras today have different settings for the most common types of pictures you will take. They usually have a portrait setting, landscape setting, action setting, and night setting. Each of these settings will give you a different effect, and the coloring and lighting will be different as well. I have found that many people either get comfortable with one setting and are afraid to switch to another for fear of missing the shot, or they simply forget that they have all of these great settings available. Spend some time playing and using each of these settings. One of the beautiful things about digital cameras is you can simply erase each picture you did not like.

One of my favorite digital camera tricks and tips is the use of the macro mode. Almost all digital cameras have a setting on them known as the macro mode. Using the macro mode allows you to get really close to your subject, and capture the finer details. This mode is great for shooting a single flower or a butterfly.

Do you ever get frustrated when you think you are going to have a great shot, but then find it to be blurry. The best way to prevent this is to use a tripod or something similar. I know that using a tripod is not always practical, when you cannot use one prop your camera on a sturdy surface such as a table. Many times when you are shooting, especially if it is a subject that moves, the slight movement of your hand plus the slight movement of the subject can cause that blur. So, when possible put the camera down and shoot or use the camera's timer.
